I think it's safe to say from my comment that I'd rather have the map and my $300 still in the bank. I've driven all over the country, north-south-east-west, and my old atlas has gotten us everywhere we needed to go without issue.

I am not saying that a GPS isn't useful, just that it's kind of a waste of money in my opinion.

Yeah I understand your point about going long distances. Think GPS is still better/safer when commuting in the city.

About the paper maps: I completely understand back home I hated the "garmin" and other worthless versions. They were out of date and always gave bad directions. Toronto? NY? DC? Think again dumb machine.
Here, many of the paper maps that I tried to use from 2 years ago didnt have comonly used roads on them.
Second problem was roads that had the same number, but shared that number with a simmilar road going in a completely different direction.

This may be a country [think farm] problem as they are working hard to pave this country over. (and get fatter, like way fatter on average than a year ago)

Air76, you seem to have a lot to say for yourself, all of it negative, unhelpful and frankly very uninteresting. I suggest that you go count the money that you have amassed through not buy consumer items such as designer sunglasses, sat nav ect, and leave everyone else to get on with their own lives and own business in peace. I read Hangul extremely well, and have a paper map! However, from your post about not understanding why someone would want a GPS unit here, it is clear that you have never driven in this country, have no empathy about what it is like here to to be constantly on the watch for suicidal bus drivers, scooters and 4x4 drivers, while trying to find your way through many of the complex junction systems that litter Seoul. from seeing your various posts, and as I told you when you commented a while ago on one of mine, I don't care what psychological issues you suffer from or if you simply don't like spending money, don't like consumerism, capitalism, the free market or what ever, just leave decent people to get on with their lives without having to read the drivel that you constantly post. Your analogy in the sunglasses post about fashion and the concept of the national state (nationalism) is one of the most hilarious, tenuous and worrying things I have ever heard, and I have a Masters Degree in International Relations, however, it may give an undergrad class a laugh the next time I lead a seminar. Get a grip and mind your own business,
