@ abiandjamesinsk
your response clearly reflects a narrow-mindedness that only some dweebs can perfect.... if at all... air76 was trying to help you save some money.
i assume someone with your highly ranked stature with such credentials, some of us might aspire to, is in K-land for the money. use your brain... you know... the one you used to lead seminars with... and read deeper than what you see written on here...
the little i know about air76 is that he's genuine and a real stand-up kinda guy. i would choose his experienced info over your educated guessing any time of day...
sorry for feeding another's desire to vent OP... goodluck w.t. sale. |

Personally Randell I think I am quite able to make my own mind up about thing without the need for "Help" for people like you or anyone else.
I could not care less for your opinion on him being, "a stand up kinda guy", as the only times I have ever encountered this person on this forum, I have come away with the impression of a rude, busybody who should keep his misinformed opinions about everything from ladies purses to GPS units to himself.
Secondly, I am high minded due to both rich world experience and a high standard of education, but in the same breath, I can also communicate and appreciate virtually anybody from any culture. What I cannot stand is people who pretend to know about things that they have actually no clue about. Please do not presume anything about me, as you have no clue what you are talking about and to be fair, if I want to spend my money, I believe that I am quite at liberty to do so, mistake or no mistake. |

Air76, you seem to have a lot to say for yourself, all of it negative, unhelpful and frankly very uninteresting. I suggest that you go count the money that you have amassed through not buy consumer items such as designer sunglasses, sat nav ect, and leave everyone else to get on with their own lives and own business in peace. I read Hangul extremely well, and have a paper map! However, from your post about not understanding why someone would want a GPS unit here, it is clear that you have never driven in this country, have no empathy about what it is like here to to be constantly on the watch for suicidal bus drivers, scooters and 4x4 drivers, while trying to find your way through many of the complex junction systems that litter Seoul. from seeing your various posts, and as I told you when you commented a while ago on one of mine, I don't care what psychological issues you suffer from or if you simply don't like spending money, don't like consumerism, capitalism, the free market or what ever, just leave decent people to get on with their lives without having to read the drivel that you constantly post. Your analogy in the sunglasses post about fashion and the concept of the national state (nationalism) is one of the most hilarious, tenuous and worrying things I have ever heard, and I have a Masters Degree in International Relations, however, it may give an undergrad class a laugh the next time I lead a seminar. Get a grip and mind your own business,
OP: Thank you for replying, it is no problem you not wishing to sell the Sat Nav separately. I wish you luck with your sale. I apologise for hijacking you post with the above. |
While I have no idea concerning the length of time you've lived in Korea, I would imagine that I've clocked far more driving hours in Korea than you have....and yes, I am well aware of the many perils of driving in this country. As I've said...we've driven ALL over this country, from coast to coast to coast to the DMZ, all with our 10,000 won map, and never with any issue. Clearly your Master's Degree isn't in reading comprehension as I mentioned this fact earlier in this precise thread. I love when people mention their educational background as a means of qualifying their opinion about something. "Oh, I studied Psychology, so 'I' should know!" Well, if that's how she works, my degree was in Business Administration, so I guess that's why I am more smart with my money.
I am glad to hear that you liked my analogy of nationalism to fashion...and well, if you disagree, then you're just wrong. Sorry about that.
I also don't understand this whole post hijacking thing....the more posts that someone has on their sale the more likely it is that they will sell the product, regardless of the nature of the posts. Even Wes trying to low ball on the price of Chambertin's vehicle will not have a negative impact on his sale....if the price is reasonable for the car it should sell, if it is not reasonable then it won't. Either way, keeping the post at the top of the queue is a benefit for Chambertin either way. I wish that everyone would hijack my for sale threads....tell me that I shouldn't be playing video games or that they don't really believe that I wear size 13-15 socks (scratch that, those are sold) or that I am fat and shouldn't be giving away my exercise machine. It would be a hell of a lot easier than constantly having to go back and BUMP the threads.
You did come up with a good idea though....that being counting my money. Maybe I will do that this afternoon. If you think that I am in complete defiance of consumerism, you are wrong.....but there is a difference between spending money and wasting money. Designer sunglasses, purses, and expensive jewelry are a waste of money, end of discussion, if you disagree with me you are wrong.

Gonna give it two more days and then just find a safe place to park it.
Dont worry about hijacking the thread, it was off track a few minuets after I made it.
Why dont more people spend a few more minuets figuring out why they are so angry rather than lashing out at the nearest thing they can?
Pathetic how many of the people who come on these forums just to pick a fight dont even read what the other person posted, they just rant crazily about some insignificant point slightly related to the topic.
Then when they get they fight they wanted, they dont even read the response, they just plow their script they had prepared for if a fight broke out.
Reminds me of my Economics classes, or almost any of my undergraduate classes. People are taught a doctrine, like a religion, not a method of thought or proper discussion about the many issues.
So many of them are so similar to the thing they hate its quite funny.

"There's no such thing as bad publicity" is a myth. It can only work for someone who or something that was really famous and needs a shock to make a comeback.
-I did appricaate the apology even if uneccessary it shows that someone has the ability of empathy. +50 to their side of the argument.
All the clutter and clamor has a good chance to make people less likely to purchase as they probably dont want to get involved in any of this. Who wants to be the next target of some goof who is just out for a forum fight?
Oh well, that's my comment. Also my last post on this forum for a while,
Too many of the helpful people have been forcibly removed anyway. |

As the 'Abi' half of abiandjamesinsk I would just like to add to James' comments that I think air76 needs to get a life I also think that air76 should consider why he is such a negative person and has such a need for attention, I sense some deep underlying issues...most likely concerning his childhood. Perhaps someone could point him in the direction of a qualified professional?
however I'm not saying this to air76 because frankly I don't like to associate with people who are quite so crazy...
all the best with the car sale

Air 76- Because you say you have driven 1,000 of Km's in Korea does not make it true. Simple! It also does not make you a good or a safe driver. If I wish to buy a sat nav opposed to your suggestion of a 10 dollar map, what is it to you? If I wish to spend my money in a what you consider a foolish way then that is purely my choice. Fine, you think I am wrong, I am not even going to try to change your mind on that, as you are obviously some sort of throw back to the luddite movement. However, please do everyone else a favour and think it, instead of typing it. Do you say these things to your friends when they buy something new? "Oh you shouldn't have got that, you should have got this," or "You don't want to do that, you want to do this." It's like you are a living parody of a comedy sketch character.
You have obviously never learnt that everybody likes, buys, listens, watches, believes and enjoys different things. It would be an extremely boring world if we we were all the same. Just because you cannot see the value in something, does not give you the right to deride and belittle it. I did not solicit your "advice" in this matter in the first place, and from what I have seen, many people would rather you just kept your nasty, snide little comments to yourself no matter how long you have been here and despite whatever dubious honour you think this bestows upon you.
If you would like to debate political theory or the theories of the Nation state verses Human Security, I am more than happy to do so all day, however, this forum is hardly the place. Just name the time and place, and I will quite happily prove you wrong! Until then, I bid you farewell. |

Dear Randall20105, your response made me laugh with its complete nonsense, and was an interesting interlude to an otherwise slightly boring afternoon at school.
I would take offence except you seem to have aimed your insults at "abaonjames" and I'm not sure who that is?
Best of luck on graduating elementary school, do let us know when that is so we can send our congratulations. |

| Hey, Chambertin, why don't you try to sell your car on Craigslist? It's harder to highjack someone's post over there; although, some people still do, but I have to admit that they often do with good intentions. Anyway, it might make it easier for you. Cheers! |

"Slapping her over her forehead, saying Shooo... crawl back in that whole you came from...you cant get the Navi...now Shoo off!!"
Don't pay any attention to this Sheila. She just trolls dropping negative turds on threads.
I predict you'll sell this car for said price by the weekend OP. |

Truly last post as I'm just going to keep it for now.
Have a buyer lined up if I change my mind.
cmr,
Truthfully with little need to sell it I just wanted to see if any other teachers needed a reliable care more than I did. I'm going home for a while and dont plan to travel to offsite classes when I return. Remember name of thread is "want to sell it" not "need to sell it at 1.6 million or I will perish" as some people seem to believe. /sigh
So if I'm gong to pull a rush job on the paperwork wanted to do it for a fellow teacher over any random joe.
Goodbye Dave's |

I don't think I could have phrased it any better than this without resorting to obscenities. |
