I'll be traveling with a friend to Egypt next month, and am wondering if anyone could recommend any hotels they stayed in.

Location doesn't matter I'm thinking, as for the most part - we'll be going to much the same cities as most people. We usually stay in something like 2-star hotels, but hostel with private rooms would work.

Thanks,

I stayed at a bunch of places in Cairo. Given your description, I'd say Hotel Luna is a good option for you. I stayed at the Meramees Hotel the longest, and it is very clean but it doesn't have AC and is pretty low budget.

I'll have to look up where i stayed in Luxor. Happyland or something corny like that. It was a hostel, but super clean and in a decent location.
The places I stayed in Aswan and Dahab weren't that great so can't recommend anywhere in those spots. And are you going to Siwa? The place I stayed there was pretty good too (will have to look it up later as well).

Keylanny in Aswan is a very good budget hotel. You get ice cold A/C, hot water, 2 single comfortable beds, and blazing fast WiFi for your laptop. All for about $12 a night if I remember correctly. They were accommodating, not rude and mean like many, and did a fantastic job in setting us up for the 3AM departure to Abu Simbel. In Egypt, it is very important to pick your hotels, drivers, and restaurants by researching for reviews first as there are so many shady crappy ones out there to give you hard time.

Those both look great thanks.

Oh we'll plan ahead a ton, and always so via Tripadvisor and ocassionally other sources - but I wanted to see what other people had found and if it was maybe better.

Did you book Keylany in advance, or walk-in?

Oh, and no we're not going to make it to Siwa.
