I was placed in Boseong, Jeollanamdo in the English Town at the local elementary school by Canadian Connection last year. Overall I had a really good visa application process (as far as applying for an E2 visa can be). They give us a clear sequential list of the steps and documents needed at each stage. For those leaving from Toronto they met us at the airport and accompanied us to our orientation in Gwangju. The orientation was good but a little on the long side for my personal tastes.

Boseong itself was quite a small town and about an hour and a half from Gwangju on the bus. If you do want a city they do post some teachers to Mokpo, Yeosu, and Suncheon. Although they're not big cities by Korean standards you will have access to more "Western" goods and other expats if that's what you're looking for.

In the end I was quite impressed with them and would recommend them.

Yes, so far so good. Will let you know as soon as I hear any news. Check out the FB pages run by Jeollanamdo teachers so long. Maybe there is some info there.

Have you been placed yet? Can you PM where you're working if you have?

I haven't been placed yet. If I hear anything about placement or receive mine I will let you know. Give it a few weeks while they sort out the visa documents and sort through the candidates. EPIK teachers only get placed during orientation...hopefully we will get placed before ours.

i was around 8 months ago Smile Its a nice place, the people are lovely, but depending on where you are (landlocked and away from suncheon/gwangju) it can feel a wee tait rustic Smile Still i live right next to a decent size river in a plush apartment that looks out on it and a bunch of decent hills so cant complain too much Smile

Canadian Connections put me in Mokpo in March of 2008. Just started my third year in Suncheon. If you have any questions, pm me.
