I do not know if I am on the right forum for this question. I am looking to bring back a bottle of soju to America and I was wondering if TSA would make me throw it out. I am going to put it in my carry on. I do not want to pack it in my regular checked luggage in fear it may break. Does anyone know? Confused

They'll toss it. You can probably get one from duty free after you pass through security as long as you don't have any connecting flights.

They'll probably make you throw it away. Just double wrap it in a towel. If it does break, all the glass and liquid will stay in one place. I've brought litres of rum in this way, and I've never had a breakage.

It's glass. No way. Not only is it too large of a liquid container, it's glass. You could secure it in your check on bag.

You can't even carry on water, much less soju.

I brought some little mini packs back from emart. 3X200ml bottles. It was better that way because you can give them as gifts, and most people aren't going to want to drink a whole bottle of soju when they A) aren't in Korea, and 2)have a million other, better options.

No damages in the checked luggage.. I just wrapped them up in socks and towels and what not.

Is this for personal use or a gift?
You could buy it in any large city in America. Go to the local Asian quarter or Koreatown and ask for it by name. I've seen Jinro and Cham-I-sul in Flushing, NY (and became acquainted with it well before coming to Korea)

You bought soju in the US, with all those other glorious options available? Gross.

hey ^^
I always buy the plastic hip flask sizes of soju (900 won each) and I put them in my checked luggage...I put them in a zip lock bag to be on the safe side and there is no problem with leakage!
