I might take this position in Masan because they offer 6 month contracts, BUT I have worked in China before and I could kill myself if I get stuck in another small town with nothing to do and a 2 hour dirty bus ride from civilization. With that being said, HOW is Masan? I heard it's a small town with not much to do. I want to know if there are gyms nearby, good clean places to eat and well, how long are these bus rides to the city-esk life? Thanks.

Masan is a vast expanse of concrete with thousands of identical buildings and businesses. So it is the same as 90% of the urbanized area of Korea. It's not great, but you could do a lot worse.

You will find plenty of things to do, see and eat but will probably be happy to leave after six months. Busan is an hour away by bus. Changwon (my city) is 20 mins away (they are practically the same city, being conjoined with no space in between), by bus. There is more to do in Changwon, and it is newer and better in most ways, but your work a day life isn't going to be much different. There are heaps of supermarkets and half decent restaurants in Masan. I believe they even have a Mexican joint.

Can I ask what part of Masan? That probably makes some difference.

I don't know yet. Let me ask and find out. How is the air quality there?

The air quality in the whole of Korea is generally pretty good. Just a few times a year the yellow dust sweeps in which makes it unsafe, for basically everyone, to be outside.

Central Masan? 45 minutes away from Busan or the other main city area? LoL, sorry, I have to check again. I'm asking for pictures! Thanks again.

yeah hi I live in changwon next door.

if your after nightclubs/a "bigger than a few pubs" foreigner scene etc
I'd stick to pusan/obviously seoul or daegu at a stretch..don't know
about incheon/daejeon etc.

yeah masan prob 400,000max ..typical smaller city korea...nice harbour.

bout 1.5 hours from pusan and realistically 2 hours from haeyundae/kyungsung uni etc
