What date did you interview, and by what date did they have all of your documents? |

pretty late, interviewed start of June they received my documents approx 2/3 weeks later (apostille took ages coming back)... was then told by my recruiter that epik would like to proceed with finding me a placement but would I be happy to accept a position in a province as all the city positions were now filled (pretty annoyed at this as my application was sent away when the first intake of applicants were being accepted), i said yes and now nothing....... recruiter just saying to be patient and that they wont know anything definite until everything is in front of them in a final document...... just time is ticking you know |

You were at the tail end of interviews then. I believe they have filled ALL positions (SMOE exception, according to my recruiter), but are now siphoning through some drop outs and that is probably where you stand. On a waiting list to get placed. All wait listers need to be completely flexible so they can be placed in the boonies if necessary, which is why you were asked that.
Good luck! Hopefully you do get placed. There aren't too many on this thread, I view us as the EPIK Devotees so we all deserve it. |

Hey redsetter, what recruiter did you go with? I applied direct about the same time you did thinking it was going to be faster, but getting the same thing. |

Yes- Join the facebook group!
I agree with Fergal- it'd be great if we all just have one place that all the EPIKer's can talk even once the school year begins and we actually arrive, because after all, that's when the real adventure begins! |

Did your recruiter say where you would be recommended to? |

They have been saying 'next week' the past few weeks. One of these weeks, they will be correct! |

+1
I finally got a hold of my recruiter and she was saying that my contract should be arriving in 1-2 weeks. Or 3-4. Or 5-6. Anyways, she did mention to me the different visa types I can apply for because I am a Korean-American. I'm being told in just about every way that I am in but again, the fact that I have no documents saying I am in is what I continue to vent and laugh about. |

Does anyone know anything about obtaining visas? Or better understand the special arrangement EPIK may have with the Korean Embassy? I know our interviews are waved for one. But there seem to be heaps of inconsistencies between what EPIK is asking me to aquire for my VISA and what the Korean Consulate is.
I did in fact receive an explanation of documents needed from my coordinator when my contract arrives (passport, visa application, contract, noa, $50-80 fee, and COPIES of EPIK documents). But she also said to check with my consulate to be sure (the closest one is nearly three hours away in New York City. Their required documents DO NOT say anything about copies being acceptable.
They request that you send your original diploma, original passport, sealed transcript, apostilled documents and a letter of recommendation from the Minister of Education (???). They also ask that you fill out a few other forms---but they seem self-explanatory.
I thought we handled obtaining all of this stuff months ago. I really hope some of us don't need to go through it all again so late in the game.
Note: Did try contacting my coordinator about this but she is undoubtedly gone for the weekend by now. |

I have the same issue. We DID send those visa documents after passing the interview. If we need to obtain these few documents again, it will cost us. I tried emailing the Korean Consulate about this matter and im still waiting for their reply. From their website, they did mention that we need to submit these documents but didnt mention whether or not we need them notarized (again). SIGH |

I finally got through to the consulate in New York today (to an English speaker) and I was told that I needed to submit the visa app, 1 passport-sized photo, payment, contract, return envelope, my original passport and a sealed transcript. So beware. Some of you may need to aquire another sealed transcript. I recommend calling your consulate and waiting on the phone to get it directly from the horse's mouth---Because there were several items listed on their site that were "required" that actually weren't and absolutely no indication of any of these items not being needed because we are through EPIK: Those include apostilled documents, a letter from the Minister of Education, and your original diploma. But of course for you, it may differ. After all, as we have learned already there is no system here. Be prepared! |
