Has anybody come to Korea on a tourist visa and been hassled about an ongoing ticket? I am wondering whether or not I will be hassled about not having an ongoing ticket.

You be denied entry and required to buy an outbound ticket.

You could even be denied boarding at the airport by the airline.

So just buy a 2 way refundable ticket or a one-way ticket to Korea with a one way ferry ticket to Japan from Busan.

Or roll the dice and taker a shot at being denied entry...ah good times.

REAL VISA or entry on a visa waiver stamp?

It makes a HUGE difference.

Real visa - no problem.

Visa waiver stamp = not likely to even be allowed to board the aircraft without forward or return passage out of Korea.

Be prepared to purchase a (refundable) one way ticket to anywhere out of Korea when you get to the airport.

An alternative is to buy yourself a refundable ticket before you get to the airport (you can try to find a cheaper one) and then cash it in after you arrive.

.

Are you coming here hoping to find a job after you've arrived but you've never worked in Korea before? The tourist visa isn't your big worry then. You'll need to go back to your home country for the consulate interview. Get the job first, then come over on the E-series visa.

That totally depends on where you're flying in from, and what airline.

in my experience korean immigration or Korean air/ asiana will not hassle you.

However if you're flying a different airline, then they will ask you for an onward ticket at the point of departure..

A couple times I came here on a tourist visa between visas. Was never asked for an on-going ticket either at the foreign airport nor when I arrived. The agent didn't even talk to me. Grabbed my passport, scanned it, stamped it, done.

If you really want to be safe, print out one of those "reservations" from the ferry company from Busan on the off chance you get someone who actually cares to ask you.
