I tried a search and the search function wouldn't work for me.

I've heard good reports from:

Korvia (public school only though)?

and

JJ, Foot prints.

Any comments about "Korean recruiting?"

What other recruiters have done well for posters here?

Thanks. I'm asking because I'm ready to fill out online apps and info, once I get my photo onto my computer.

Thanks.

Honestly, unless you are sticking strictly to public school positions you should hit as many recruiters as you need to find the job you want, in the place you want, with the terms you want, at the money you want.

Recruiters are nothing more than an introduction to a job.

If you limit yourself to just a couple then you LARGELY limit your options and job offers.

Good or bad is largely irrelevant. They are just the introduction.

AFTER you get introduced to the job it is YOUR responsibility to do your own DUE DILIGENCE in regards to the position offered and the LEGAL requirements of obtaining and maintaining your visa.

REMEMBER: the recruiter DOES NOT work for you. They work for the school to find a warm body to fill a position.

They are not your buddy. They are not your baby sitter. They can't get you out of the crap if you land in it. Once you sign on the dotted line and have put in your "minimum (by their guarantee to the school) time" you are essentially dead weight to them.

Use lots... just like shopping for a used car... use as many as you need and don't trust anything they tell you without independent confirmation.

.

that is good advice.

Use as many as you can.

The most important thing to remember is what ttompatz said, they dont work for you, they work for the school. They are willing to lie, cheat, steal and so on to get you over here.

we used (and really like) saykimchee recruiting. It's run by a 30-something american girl (Lindsay) who is actually teaching in Korea right now. She has links to a larger, Korea based recruiter, so she gets a LOT of job options... but she's also willing to give you the personal attention lacking at footprints and so many of the other big recruiters. She's also been great and prompt at helping us resolve situations with the school AFTER we arrived in Korea, and has been wonderful with tips on fun things to do around the country.

@op

I'd recommend:
1. ESL-Planet/Rowan: Really straightforward.
2. Global Campus Jobs/Sophie and Jay: Really honest and helpful.
3. ESL-Starter/Phil: Replies to emails quickly, and seems genuine.

I WOULDN'T recommend:
1. ASK-Now/Jason: Clearly interested in getting his $$. And they send spam emails.

But I will say that these are just my experiences, and you should go with whichever recruiting company you want. I've since then moved on from recruiters, and I don't use them anymore. Also, I have asked about JJ in the past...and I got many mixed reviews about them. But it doesn't really matter to me, since I'm applying directly now. I've read Korvia is pretty good. Ttompatz has always provided some pretty sound, unbiased advice, so I would listen to what s/he says: Use as many recruiters as you want in the beginning. Get them to answer your questions, and when you actually decide to apply? Well, then you have 2 choices: 1) continue with recruiters, but at the point you should only be using one. Or 2) Apply directly.

I second ESLStarter. Worked with Claire and she was completely fantastic, super helpful and answered all my questions quickly.

Im going with ESLstarter (Phil) as well. He got me a nice placement in Daegu with EPIK. As stated above, he is a nice fellow, replies quite promptly to emails, quite helpful and as well, he is located in Seoul.

I used WorkNPlay Consulting, and I am now working at a great GEPIK school.

I definitely recommend WorkNPlay especially for independent GEPIK public school positions.

You can find good ones, from time-to-time. They tend to come and go in the industry. If you do find an honest one they're worth GOLD. Let all of your friends know about them. Give an honest recruiter as much business as possible. Too many teachers simply keep going back to the bad ones.

Korea Recruiting is a class act, they give advice and support, and even go to bat for you.
