Hi I have an apartment full of musical gear and I'd like to record some bands/musicians this summer. The room this is all in has surprisingly clean acoustics. Pro studios in Seoul start at 30.000KRW/hour on the low end with an engineer, and go way up from there. I'm offering to record your first song for Free, and after that, you pay what you think the job is worth. Simple as that. I'm just looking to get more experience and make some extra money this summer.
My gear:
Sonar Cakewalk 8.0 registered
M-Audio Studiophile AV40 Monitor Speakers
Behringer 6 channel mixer run thru M-Audio Delta 44 breakout box (firewire, low latency)
Roland V drums TD 6
Fender 25R guitar amp
Laney RB1 bass amp
Yamaha RGX elec guitar
Epiphone SG elec guitar
Fender P bass American
Tune (Japanese company) 5 string bass
88 key, fully weighted Chinese made digital piano that plays surprisingly well
Shure SM58 mic
Line 6 Pod 2.0 amp modeler/fx processor
Boss GT 6B bass fx processor
Korg Kaossilator
Crafter acoustic/elec
Laguna baby acoustic - beautiful tone
Crybaby wah
big djembe - 30cm head
extra bells and whistles
basically, I can record your whole band, 4 ppl at a time, or piece by piece, whatever you want. Solo artists welcome too. I can fill in on drums or bass if you are missing a player, maybe guitar or piano depending on the piece. Additional musicians and vocalists, male and female, available as well.
Anybody looking to make some recordings on the cheap this summer is welcome. Tell your friends. Thanks. Peace
email [email protected] with questions or to schedule a recording time. Will not respond to wall posts on this site. Cheers |

Oldmoneyjp -- Your heart is in the right place, but go easy on the "free." People that read this site have a couple bucks and if you are going to spend serious time with a band, then you deserve to get paid. I did the same thing once when I first started recording audio and I got bombarded with dicks.
Careful... |

Well, actually, the guitar goes through the Pod, the drums are electronic, you run the bass direct, then you track vocals individually. A 58 goes a long way in a digital studio.

I understand how it *can* be done, but few bands want to perform that way, and good band recordings start with good band performances. |

I've always done the band instruments live and saved the vocals for overdub. Too much noise bleed into the mic if you try to do the vocals at the same time. I like the cheesy commentators though. Shows real strident focus on being wrong-minded. Anyway, bands ought to have a few 57's and 58's 'ey? If you're still at it after the summer I may be interested. Especially if you've got a few good musicians to throw into the project.
Best.

LGG, bringing the buy and sell forum to new levels of hoity-toity self-righteousness. If you overdub the vox, then why do you need more than one mic in a scenario such as the one the OP suggested with everything going direct without amps?
(OP, I warned you about what sort of element free recording attracts)

V-drums, guitar amps, and keyboards can all go directly into a mixing console without a mic. Anyone who knows the slightest bit about recording music would know this :/ |

I think the criticism comes from those who want to mic the Roland kit. Remember to put the mics on all of the toms and one big boom overhead. And you should also have everyone play at the same time, with a smoke in one hand, shirtless with babes everywhere. |

It seems generally tame, but just keep the sniping down a bit...
Thanks and have a nice day,

I've always done the band instruments live(which can be done direct as the OP explained) and saved the vocals for overdub(for which one mic could suffice). Too much noise bleed into the mic if you try to do the vocals at the same time(the sound of the instruments being played "bleeds" into the vocal mic and you get a lower quality vocal recording than if you record it separately/unless you have a vocal booth..which the OP has not). I like the cheesy commentators though(I scoff at people making negative comments about the OP's endeavor). Shows real strident focus on being wrong-minded(those that tell him his approach is not worth doing...). Anyway, bands ought to have a few 57's and 58's 'ey(that they would bring with them to the recording session)? If you're still at it after the summer I may be interested. Especially if you've got a few good musicians to throw into the project(I'm the opposite of a "freebie" customer. I am interested in checking out what happens with the first projects and recording after my summer schedule clears, hopefully with like-minded people that can play bass, percussion, keys etc.).
Best.(may your efforts bring to fruition the goals that you express)

Trevor, what the hell was that ?
Did you really not understand?
That is truly bizarre.
I hope this helps.
Good luck OP. |
