Does anybody know insurance/tax costs for a 2 liter Tuscani? Any other comments or recommendations regarding it? Can you think of a better car for about 6 million that's as fun or more fun to drive?

I have a motorcycle that I use most of the time, but after a harsh winter and monsoon season upon us, I'm thinking about getting a car. I'll mostly use it in bad weather, to get to the grocery store and ski slope, and when I just want to use the expressway. The Tuscani is not exactly my dream car, but I haven't seen anything more desirable for around six million. Six million will buy an '02-'04 with less than 80k kilometers and possibly with nice rims and upgraded audio.

I think the Tuscani might be the most fun thing to drive that I can find for that price, but should I be thinking of any other model? I really hate driving automatics, and a lot of other cars are a bit hard to find in manual.

I was in my friend's Tuscani and the driver and front passenger seats are comfortable and really good for tall people. I kind of like that the back seat is uncomfortable because I don't really want to drive anyone around besides my girlfriend.

I would be interested in finding out about this as well.
In my opinion, I think this is the nicest car you will find for this price - I am not into 4x4's etc and the Tuscani is not exactly ugly.

I hope you find the information you are looking for.

Good luck - and enjoy your car Smile

Vehicle tax 2.0L = 200 Won/cc * 2000 = 400k Won
'Education' tax (don't ask) = 30% of the vehicle tax = 400k * 0.3 = 120k Won
Hence 520k Won in total (per annum), but deductible based on the model year of the vehicle at 5% rate interval.

As for insurance, you're off the hook as far as you get the mandatory coverage. But you'd definitely want more coverage for your own good, and that's where it gets far too complicated.

Just another 'tax on tax' which goes to respective local government. Education tax is assessed not only on vehicle tax but on tobacco (yup, go love your kids), property tax, registration tax, and betting tax as well.

Any ballpark estimates on insurance? I really don't know how insurance works at all, so I guess what I need to know is if this car is for some reason much more expensive than others.

In corea if you haven't had a car before you are a new driver. I have had a DL in the states for many years but was still considered a new driver. if you work at a public school you should have your coteacher call educar and find out what rates they offer. they are the cheapest ones I found so far in Korea.

TG,

I don't know how the car you want to buy compares to mine, but I just bought at 2006 GM Daewoo Rizzo (it runs on LPG) in March. You need to call your local gu office (the big one in your area) and ask for the vehicle registration desk. They can look it up and tell you.

You have to pay some acquisition fees when you first register the car. Mine ran about 360,000 won. Then you have the actual tax which is every six months. Mine is going to be 200,000 each half year for a total of 400,000 a year.

They prorated my tax for March-Jun which was 143,000, July-Dec 200,000, plus the acquisition fees of 360,000 it will end up costing me about 700,000 for the first 9 1/2 months.

I was told lpg is only for taxis/bongo trucks/disabled people?

or is that just a busan rule? All the cheap cars I see for sale are LPG they can't all be old taxis? some of them have tiny mileage on them.

Sheriff,

No, it's not. I have an LPG car. The mileage isn't as great on them, but the price of fuel is lower then regular gas.

sorry to keep on at this topic, I was also told that larger carens/jeep size cars, I think a rizza (is it wu-tang spec?) is a pretty big suv thing right? perhaps thats why?

The larger the vehicle the more the tax will be. LPG cars get a little bit of a break on tax, if you buy a tiny Matiz you pay almost nothing. The Rizzo is a medium size car from what I understand.

Hahaha...buying a Rizzo in honor of Rizza is almost worth it--nice post.

With regard to LPG, I'm pretty sure that back in the day you needed to be somehow special to buy one--handicapped, really old, war veteran, etc. These days any one can own them, but I think you might have to be special to convert a gasoline car to LPG. If you want LPG though, you should probably just buy LPG. I think the biggest drawback to LPG is starting problems in the winter. A few teachers at my school have slightly older LPG cars and had terrible times last winter. One of them drove his wife's car a lot. My guess would be that cold starting issues have been resolved in newer cars, but I really don't know.
