Years ago I was shopping for a doll for my little cousin's birthday. I forget what it was called, baby kiss me or something, but it was all the rage at the time. They were sold out of white ones so I got her the ethnic version not even thinking twice about it. However the second she opened it she started crying: "I don't want that one" and made a huge scene. I ended up having to take it back to another bigger argos and exchange it for the white version. Best part of that story was explaining it to the asian sales assistant why I need an exchange, fortunately she found it funny Rolling Eyes

This isn't a race thing, but when or I was young, maybe 6 or 7, there was a midget dressed up in some kind of really funny suit standing outside of a grocery store. I think he was there to promote something. When I saw him, I thought he looked so funny that I pointed and laughed really loud, like "HAWHAW HAWHAW!" Of course, my parents were mortified. I'm laughing out loud just remembering it. Why was he wearing a funny suit if you aren't supposed to laugh at him? The suit was some kind of 19th century suit.

My little brother is adopted from Guatemala, but he has vaguely Asian features, so one time we were on the Subway and a little Chinese boy started speaking to him and he responded "CHOW CHOW PING" etc...

He didn't understand why the boy didn't continue speaking in pretend code with him. We've since explained that Spanish and English aren't the only two languages Laughing

Not so much about people, but growing up I had a racist dog.

It was a little poodle mix that thought it was about 150lbs and it HATED black people.

Living in Cleveland, this was not a good thing. Many of my best friends growing up were black and this dog would go absolutely insane whenever any of them came to the house. It was so bad that we had to lock the dog in the basement whenever anyone would visit.

For the life of my family we couldn't figure out why the dog was like this. We bought it when it was a puppy, so no abuse or anything like that. One of our friends suggested that dogs can pick up on some smell that different people have. However that was debunked when I dressed up like Batman when i was about 12 and the dog about tore off my arm because of the costume.

After about 4 or 5 years we gave the dog away to some distant cousin because we were worried what might happen if the dog ever escaped form the yard and mauled some infant.
