| I have been presented with a position at Yoon's English in Gohyeon in Geoje-do. I am having an issue with the search function so I can't search for info on the site. From what I can understand from Mary at MnJ Recruiters, it is a fairly large chain. Any info or advice will be appreciated. |

I currently work for a Yoon's English Forest (영어 숲) in Jecheon, this school is owned by the parent company TNS, don't bother searching, nothing comes up. Our directors English name is Julia Lee, and her Korean name is Pack Eun Hee.
Yoon's was originally a home tutoring service. They recently branched out and began to open Hagwons. So Yes, in essence they are a rather large school, but the hagwons are very new.
Our school has been pretty deceptive from the beginning. When they hired us, my wife and me, they entered our E-2 visas as "self employed" they did this to work around tax, health and pension laws. This is also a very common practice for some of the shadier hagwons out there.
They have also just recently fired us at the 11th month mark in our contracts to avoid having to pay for airfare and end of year severance. In our particular case, this school is very much to be avoided.
With that said, your school may be perfectly legal and fine to work for in every way. They may be owned and operated under different people and possibly even companies. I don't want to deter you from the school, but you should be very aware that this school may also try to get out of paying you for your time and effort.
Before you say yes ask the company some questions.
1. Will I be covered under the National Pension Scheme and National Health Care?
2. Will I be sponsored by the school or self employed? (if you are self employed you can teach privately)
3. How long has your school been established?
4. How many foreign and Korean teachers do you have on your staff?
I hope this helps. |

lol.
When I read of hagwons I always hear this song in my head-

Though on another note, I'd never heard of Yoon's until I moved out to the deepest countryside, and there's a few round here for some reason. I curse at the one in this village everyday for having the same name as my autistic plank of a co-teacher. |

| Thanks for the advice Ian. Those are good questions to ask most hagowns so I will keep them in mind. Since I'm not currently in SK they didn't want to talk to me so I will keep looking for reputable hagwons (oxymoron?) on Geoje-do. |

There are quite a few reputable ones on geoje. I work for one for a start and it's great here, boss is awesome, principal is too. I get bonuses things done when I need it and I have great hours too. however, there are also a few to avoid.
There are also some that are reputable in the ense that they pay your wages and all the extras but they are dcks to work for and you would work crazy hours. |

Thanks Ireland, it makes me more confidant that I will be able to find a good employer on Geoje. I've weeded a few out and still on the lookout for someplace that is hiring. |
