|
|
Well, I have been at the same school for four years and have never had to teach the teachers during vacation. Well, this year, four teachers (various levels of English) have decided that they want English classes during the vacation.
So, I have to come up with a total of 8, 3 hour classes. Any ideas?
Thanks. |

The first day they might come in with an attitude because their vacation was ruined because they have to study with the Foreign teacher. They might also be looking for an excuse to skip out of your lesson. Try to give them something they will be able relate to.

Look specifically for a video by Rain or Wondergirls. These are in English with subtitles appearing. The video by Rain is followed by an interview in English. The very fact that you have chosen Korean content will make them feel better about your lessons
If your students are high level try" Dear Abby". Just print them off the internet. Get the students to read them and give them some discussion questions for pairwork. You can also try Small Group Discussion Topics by Jack Martire. You can pick this up at Kyobo bookstore in Chongak Seoul.
If they are low level I would use either" Interchange" or " Strange stories in the News"
You might also want to check out" Tell Me More" by Andrew Finch. You can get the handouts from The TESL Journal just look under " Things for Tecahers |

| Thanks Fishead Soup. I like the watching interviews idea. I think I'll just expand on that. |

The next step is climbing a mountain or drinking Makoli. |

Trust me, snacks or maybe some kind of coffee will make the most unpleasant situation just a tad more bearable. There's a good chance that no one, including the teacher, wants to be there so might as well give a little something to look forward to. |
