Does anyone have any suggestions and/or warnings regarding signing up for a phone contract?
SK/LG/KT?
I am getting ripped by my school contract and for the price I am paying can probably get a nicer phone with more benefits.

Most cellphone companies issue contracts for 2 years so they won't even give you a phone if you are on an E-2 visa. If you do find a place that will do one year contracts they usually make you pay extra as a foreigner (I know for Sk it is about 200,000) in case you bail with the phone.
That being said, if you have a Korean that trusts you enough, they can sign up for you and you can just have your bank account linked to pay the monthly bill (what I am doing). The phone will be under their name however. This will allow you to get the 2 yr contract (which is cheaper) and get a new phone. |

Most of my friends with contracts are with LG. They seem to be the most foreigner friendly. You can get a variety of contracts, although I'm sure you'll have to drop a bit of money even if your phone isn't the latest and greatest. |

This applies to smart phones.
You should be able to get a normal phone from all of the major carriers. LG will definitely give you one no problem. |
