She did not pass on her first try. The practical part took her several times anyways. Not only that, but she's a 60 year old woman. Sorry to generalize, but 60 year old women are not known for their great driving.
But, then again, Hyundai has faith on her. They know she'll just fit another piece on the messed up puzzle that is Korean traffic.

BUt she passed the driving part in how many tries?
So if the woman is illiterate and can't pass a written test, but is granted a driving test pasing grade you guys don't think she can drive?
Let me know what drugs you guys are taking and or which universities gave you guys degrees (perhaps you should give them back)
As for "it takes like 2 hours to read Korean no excuse" Are you aware of how many processing disorders there are that could effect her ability to read the test?
As a teacher you may want to crack a book and read up on that.
I have no idea why the woman failed that test 1000 times, but of she got the driving test passed with ease, i'm not going to be too scared with her on the roads, no more than the regular drunken ajosshis who drive busses and taxi's
When I took my test I got like 3 questions out of 15 wrong, and they had to do with the fricking headlights in fog, uncontrolled train tracks, and a 4 way stop.
well
1) if i turn on the highbeams in fog, Ill find out pretty quick thats a stupid move
2) If I hear or see a fricking train I will stop.
3) Its a free for all at a 4 way stop when you all stop at the same time anyway.
NONE of these questions effected how good af a driver I was in anyway. I went onto the driving test and passed with flying colors, only messing up on the turning my wheels on a non curbed hill. |

I like her perserverance. She kept trying until she passed it.
Wether she is a good driver or not though... doesn't really make any difference in south korea.
From what i've heard many people here just bribe the examiner. At least she passed it legitimately. |

| Yeah she passed miraculously on her 1000th time, surely that was legit. What a load of crap, there are enough retards on the roads here without her thanks. People who advocate this nonsense are just as bad as she is. |

Anyone else ever notice that it seems some taxi drivers cannot read? An old friend of mine mentioned this once, and it seemed correct to me on a few occasions though I couldn't be 100% certain. Once I recall the driver asked me how to get somewhere, seemingly oblivious to the sign in front of us mentioning the place being nearby.
Drunk taxi drivers are even worse.. |

| ^ Yea, actually I never really considered that before. But one day, (before I learned how to read and at least hold a simple conversation in Korean) I handed the taxi guy a business card of where I wanted to go, after trying to tell him in my broken Korean about 5 times. The card was in Korean. He took it then made the ,"ahhhshhheee" noise, and told me to get out of the cab. |

| Haha yeah I don't really see that "accomplishment" as something to celebrate. I guess Miss Teen South Carolina should be lauded as a national hero because she didn't break down and start crying during her idiotic rant. She is, after all, a "rugged individual." |

| Assuming it is the written and that she legitimately passed that, she's probably one of the safest drivers in Korea. Having the opportunity to be observed and critiqued 1000 times? Hell, she's probably an ace. |

Written exam? No critique or supervision with that one.
She's 68, I checked. Not a good age to start driving..

would you guys want a heart surgeon operating on you if he failed his written test 100 times?
She's not doing heart surgery, but she's still driving a vehicle. |

Her age puts my thesis into major doubt, but the critiquing and observing referred to her driving skills--I'm assuming she had a driving instructor or at least the tester she drove with to get her license. Anyways, if she lives in a small town, it shouldn't be a big issue. There are enough bad drivers in Seoul already. |

She took around 6-12 times to pass her practical test, from what I remember. Anyone can correct me if you can find a source.
As I mentioned before, the most likely reason she failed the written segment was due to her being illiterate or maybe even her eyesight. Both are not good for drivers. Eyesight, moreso of course.
I would be ashamed if I cared enough and I were Korean. It's an attitude of 'we suck at what we do, but the law of averages favours us. So look how hard we try.'

No more or less than Id trust a competant doctor who passed it the first time but is trying to save my life after working for over 48 hours straight.
no more or less than I already trust the number of competant people with licenses who constantly drive drunk or reckless. |

To pass a test, you have to show the ability to drive safely and sanely at least 1 time, and once passing, you can be a jerk on the road.
She failed to do that even one time in 3 years. Please, Mrs. Cha, stay off the road.
