My wife and I are intertested in buying a house in the Korean countryside. Something we plan to use as a holiday home to go to on weekends and get away from the madness of everyday Korean life.
It may also become our base in Korea when we finally move away from Korea. That way we'll always have somewhere to stay when we visit.
We're not looking to spend a lot of money, more looking for something I can spend a year or so renovating myself.
Problem is, we're finding if difficult finding real estate agents that deal with that sort of thing. The online ones only deal with Seoul and its satelite cities and the real estate agents in my city Changwon only want to deal with stuff within the city. They so far haven't offered up any info on it or who to ask. They've actually put a lot of effort into changing my wife's mind (won't happen this is my idea) and buy something within Changwon.
Can any of you guys point me in the direction of a real estate agent that deals with rural Korea?
I should mention that we are only looking around Southern Korea in Kyoungsangnamdo and Jollanamdo, preferable close to the ocean. |

| Be careful with the real estate people who want to sell you property in the country. Myself and my wife did a fair amount of looking some time back and almost all of the bu dong san people we talked to were cons. The prices were not reasonable at all. You would be better off finding the property through private sale. Also, I think it is expected that real estate prices are going to fall considerably within the next few years, so hold off if you can. |
