Hey guys. I arrive on Thursday. I thought I would be living in Gaepodong, but now they tell me Nonhyeon subway station. Does any1 live near here or have any advice/tips on this area? I know nothing about this place but it seems mildly close to the Han and Apgu.

Nonhyeon is a decent area. There are plenty of small restaurants, gyms, grocery stores, coffee shops, etc. Also, it's only about a ten to fifteen minute walk away from Kangnam station, and you can find plenty of restaurants, shopping and things to do in that area. A few of my friends lived in nonhyeon and loved it. There is probably a lot more to do in nonhyeon than in gaepo.

If you're working in Gaepo-dong and living in Nonhyeon I have a pretty good idea of what school you're working at as well. You will probably live in the same area as the majority of your co-workers.

oh ok, that sounds good. I will be working for a YBM branch in Gaepo along with 26 other foreigners. Don't know if that is good or bad. It should be interesting.

Which YBM branch the PSA or the IA? They are both in the same building, but one is mainly a Kindergarten program and the other is an elementary aged program. I had friends who worked at the PSA and the IA so if you have any specific questions, let me know.

hey. I am not exactly sure which one it is...The contract in regards to that was pretty vague. Thanks for your help and I'll contact you if i need help. I think its the kindergarten aged program, then I teach the elementary age from 3-4:30. I guess I'll find out when i get there.

Overall, it's not a bad place to work especially if you actually enjoy working with younger kids. You'll have a homeroom class of 5, 6, or 7 year olds. The class size is large (20 students/class), but you do have a co-teacher and an assistant teacher. Some co-teachers are excellent and others are not so great. You won't have any problems with getting paid on time, pension or health insurance.

Like I said before, the nonhyeon area is a decent place to live and very close to Kangnam. There is plenty to do and it is probably about a half hour commute from the school to nonhyeon-dong.
