I was in Korea last year, went home for 3 months but kept my bank account open. I have returned ~ 2 weeks ago and thought I would be getting paid on the 16th. The administration said no because I need my ARC....anyone working for GEPIK know if this is true or not? |

Not true. If you have an account they can put your pay into it. There may be some confusion with your school's admin because you need an ARC to open an account, but you already have an account so they can pay you. No reason for not being paid. |

No. For tax reasons, they can't pay you until you have an arc. |

No, they can't submit your deductions until they have your ARC. You can be be paid, you did the work. |

Sure. The secretary could just go down to the atm and take the money out of her personal account and pay you in cash. All she needs to do is write a little receipt on a post-it and she'd be reimbursed instantly. |

No. I mean the school can't officially have youre accounts registered with tax, pension and health offices to submit their payments to the respective accounts until there is an active Alien Registration Number...but they can make their deductions and pay the teacher if the teacher has a valid korean bank account. Deductions can be submitted after said accounts have been set-up and verified by their respective government offices. In the meantime, the teacher can be paid for services rendered in cash or to their pre-set korean accounts. Deductions can be submitted later. |

He has an approved E-2 in his passport and his school hired him, processing with immi and getting him approved. They know he's not illegal and immi knows he's not illegal. The period between arrival in korea and submitting his health check and receiving his new ARC does not make him illegal. If that were the case, no one in korea should be allowed to work until they have their ARC in hand. The admin are just being dicks because they think they can get away with it. He did the job, pay him for the work he did. |

I was previously in the same situation with GEPIK, and they paid my flight after 2 days, and first paycheck after 17 days. It took 26 days to get my ARC. Just show the admin people your bankbook. |

You can be paid with a ARC card or visa. But it is a limited amount. Back in 2007 my school had to pay me only 1/3 my salery until I got my E-2. They paid the rest to the school cleaner, then they handed me the money.
I was told it was the way to stop people from paying illigals a lot of money every month so they could live here. To bad we don't do that in the USA. |
