In July 2008, I applied to teach in Seoul (done through East Gate Teach for SMOE 1 yr contract) around 24th and still managed to get in quickly.
I've been back in Toronto since my contract ended and now I'd like to go back again. This time I have 1 year experience in teaching plus TESL cert with 300+ classroom hours and practicum.

I have a phone interview scheduled this week with Footprints and I was wondering if anyone has already done their interview and has been offered a contract??

This is the first time i've applied through Footprints and I hope things go well!
Thanks!

I don't think any of us SMOE people have been offered a formal contract/NOA yet, although plenty of people have been provisionally accepted. Apparently, SMOE is being really really slow, so I'm not expecting to get my contract until next week or the week after at the earliest. Plus, they seem to still have spots they need to fill, so you may have lucked out.

And if EPIK/SMOE is still conducting interviews for Seoul spots now, I don't know if we'll ever get our contracts by orientation!

SMOE may still be interviewing, but they are not accepting new applications.

I'm currently working in Seoul and only just signed my renewed contract yesterday. I imagine that SMOE isn't going to be making any decsions until they know for sure just how many positions they have availible (or at least one would hope that's the case). So if most renewing teachers are, like me, getting their new contracts this week, I would imagine it'll take central office at least another week to verify which schools need new teachers, so they probably won't be weeding through the applications until after that. I'd say two weeks before you know anything for certain, which is going to have everyone in panic mode to get all the visa crap finished in time to make it to orientation, but thats par for the course when it comes to Korea.

Unless they're moving orientation back to mid-September, I would appreciate it if they could multi-task and either confirm or deny my place before I have a nervous breakdown.

Did she have any experience or other qualifications? One of my other friends is in the same situation, he doesn't have anything other than 1 year in Seoul and a degree

Got my SMOE confirmation today. They're seemingly being sent first-come first-served so please bear that in mind as the heart crushing wait continues Razz
