I just read that United Airlines allows a total of 5 liters of alcohol per passenger in your carry on luggage, just as long as the content is not beyond 140. My question is how many of those little plastic so-ju bottles does security at Incheon Airport allow? |

I am going to say ZERO. You'll need to buy them at a duty free after you get through security. |

You could chance putting alcohol in your checked luggage or buy it in duty free after you clear security. |

I'll never understand these places.
No taxes, check. 3x the regular retail price to void any savings, quadruple check. |

I've seen times at the airports when they don't actually let you keep your duty-free booze with you in the overhead. I never buy duty-free stuff anyway, but i've seen when they make everyone put their booze and some other stuff in a plastic bag and it gets stowed somewhere by the stewardesses (not sure where). Even if you do get to put it in the overhead, you can't open it during the flight. The only thing you can drink is what the stewardesses serve you.
Gone are the days of the lounge and bar area on regular flights. They are little more than flying buses these days. Even first class isn't what it used to be.

I was told by numerous people on an earlier post that you can put it in your checked luggage. |

You can put the soju in your checked bag with out any problem. I just went to Canada 3 weeks ago and took 3 plastic soju bottles (630ml each) with me. You can not carry on the soju, security will not let you bring any liquids through security, not even a bottle of water. The only problem you may have is bringing that much alcohol into your home country... most countries have a limit on how much you can bring with you. |

There's no limit on how much your country will let you bring in. The limit is on how much of they let you bring in without being taxed. I think it's usually 1L or thereabouts. But if you don't tell them (most most people don't) then they likely won't know. If you get caught, i think that they confiscate the booze. Same for cigarettes. If you're shipping stuff back to the States then you might want to consider sending your soju that way. |

On the travel thread I posted a question about Korean Ginseng liquor and got no response, so with apologies to the OP, I'm going to post that here as well.
Anyone know if its okay to take Korean Ginseng Liquor (the kind in the vases) overseas?
That and more related to the OPs question is what's the duty on alchy for the U.S.? I'd like to bring more than just a 1 liter bottle of Ginseng Liquor. |

So.... in the end, what happened? Did you take it in your carry-on? Did they let you? |

i'd say zero for carry-on, but i've been able to take 3 bottles of soju (glass, no less) and since they were wrapped carefully in thick plastic and put in between my clothing, they were fine. it's a risk, but do-able. |

Went I came back to Canada I put 2 litres of assorted alcohol in with my checked luggage. I don't think it is Korean customs who care. It was Canadian customs(Or USA, UK, etc.) But because I was under the limit (2 Litres for Canada) it wasn't a problem. But you have to put it in your checked luggage. You are not allowed to bring liquids through security. Unless there have been some major change since I left, you need to check with the destination country concerning how much of any controlled substance you can bring back. |
