So my 1 class is giving me a lot of trouble, they are 4 teenage girls (13)
and 1 boy, who is so shy and awkward

Like these girls can be amazing students or very disrespectful, and not do anything
but i just want some ideas for group activities for this small of a class, i have looked at some of the other post in the Idea box or whatever it is. I just dont feel with 4 girls who try to run the class that much will be accomplished, because several of the games need more people or they dont want to do them.

So any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks

You could play Scrabble in pairs. The 4 girls could split into teams of 2 and you and the boy in the class could be a team.

I had a group of spoiled brats at my first hagwon. The problem is that they were most likely together in that tiny class for years. The owner is reluctant to separate them and put them into different classes because if one strays off and goes to another hogwan the others are more likely to follow. In that case I would discuss the problem with your co-teacher and if that doesn't get any results then the owner. If you're having problems with them most likely others are as well.

But spoiled brats will be spoiled brats.

It was the same with my girls. Their parents were wealthy so they had traveled a little around the world and as a result their English was among the best of the school but their attitudes were just rotten.

I feel your pain and as I stated above don't suffer through it alone. Get everyone you can involved: be it the co-teacher, owner whoever needs to be called in to get the job done. No sense stressing it alone if you don't have to.

Sorry, the title had me thinking something else for a moment...

Anyway, the best way to resolve this would be to split up the 4 trouble makers. The 1 shy guy isn't going to do much damage to the class as a whole.

Clearly your class is small enough that any disruption in class can be very evident. I would find a way to split up the class so that the girls are not partners with one another - individual exercises? Make sure to separate them in the classroom.

Apologies to posters here I know this is slightly off topic.
Just curious if you bought some scrabble games or made them? I've got, on average 25-27 students in my class so that requires 6 or so boards which could probably be made easily enough but the pieces?

If you like, feel free to pm off line so I don't mess up (any further) the thread! Embarassed
