I am new to Seoul and besides the occasional dinner with my co-workers, I haven't really met a lot of people. I looked at some groups on Meetup.com, but they were either not my style or they seemed pretty inactive.

I am looking to meet some people that like to eat, drink, travel, go hiking or play badminton. Any ideas on websites that have groups or clubs that I can join?

Thanks!

Depends on what type of people you want to meet. Obviously clubs and bars if you want to hang out with the young crowd, but I'd say "baduk" club would be the best fit if you're into hanging out with the older crowd (significantly older)

I think if you want to meet people you might have to join groups you are not that interested in.

If you want to meet people and make friends, be friendly and sociable.
Too many expats walk around as if they are hot sh^t and they have better things to do than to be nice to people and say the occasional "hello".

Being approachable is the key to meeting people.

Oh so true. OP, I'd suggest coffee shops in places like Itaewon or Insadong-area or other areas with high concentrations of foreigners. Also, you can try the many groups on facebook. Just remember that many foreigners here do carry around some kind of bad attitude. Just one more thing, because ESL teachers tend to be transient ( ADJECTIVE Remaining in a place only a brief time) friends will come and go. If you plan to do this for longer than one year it's best to understand this and realize that there will be times when you will have few friends or even no friends. It happens. But things will improve as long as you remain positive about meeting people.

You like eating, drinking, traveling and hiking but couldn't find a meetup group? There's a meetup hiking group that goes eating, drinking, traveling and hiking every weekend.

We like eating, drinking, and traveling, but not hiking. However, there are tons of other meetups in Korea for hiking.
