| Hiroshima is the only place I've been denied entry into a (legitimate) bar in Japan, and I'm not military. |

I think you are talking about a different issue, i.e. only Japanese. The bars that I'm talking about were mostly foreign watering holes. |

| I've only been to Itaewon once, and that was just to see what it was all about. I have nothing against Itaewon like some people seem to, but there really is nothing much there. Fast food restaurants, ugly clothes shops, fake chanel bags...what is the attraction? Maybe it's changed since I went last year but... |
That's it. Western food is the attraction if don't go to plop down in a Canadian or German style bar for an imported cold one or partake in the gay lifestyle on the hill. In my opinion, Korea is the least interesting of Asian countries and probably the world. Well, that's probably part of how the ESL jobs in Korea become to pay more and offer a fuller benefits package over most other countries. It takes extra incentives to get people to go out of their way, but once you got them, you don't have to lay down the welcome mat and cater and entertain them. |
Well said. Take the money and then travel to a better spot! |

Yeah, Japanese only is what they said. But only in Hiroshima, so I think it was an extension of the military thing. After all, it wasn't a hostess bar or anything. Just one of those hard rock bars (or other musical niche) you see in Japan sometimes. |
