Hang out at Sneaky Dee's at the corner of Batheast and Collegue. You can also go to the" Cineforum" it's basically someones house converted into a movie cinema. The guy who owns it Reg Hartt has a awesome collection of old films. He gives lectures and sometimes freaks out on his patrons. He's got these devil like eyebrows.
Hang out in Kensington market and have a beer in an outdoor cafe. There's a good chance to run into some old punk rockers from the Eighties.
Go to the corner of Spadina and Queen and have some awesome Chinese/Vietnamese food. Last time I went the Barbequed duck is fantastic.
Go to the Art Gallery of Ontario for the afternoon.
Find an Art Gallery opening and take advantage of the free Wine and Cheese. |

 Bathurst & College?! where hip alternative meets traditional Italian.
I lived near the corner of Bathurst & St. Clair for a year when doing grad school research at the UofT library, my apartment right across the street from the house Ernest Hemingway lived in when working for the Toronto Star. The city has its upsides, but it ain't no Montreal! |

| If you're with your girlfriend/boyfriend, try Toronto Island. To get there catch a ferry from Harborfront, near the Westin. On Toronto Island you can rent bikes and cycle around it. On the south side of the island, there's an restaurant with soup and sandwiches that you can sit outside. Very fun day. |

I kid, I haven't spent much time there, but Toronto's OK.
My suggestion: Umm, get trashed on caesars in a friend's humongous studio apartment and end up sleeping with an ex?

We probably walked past each other ... I lived years on Browning Ave.
I loved hiking up the Don and even on selected days, taking a canoe down it when they allowed.
Restaurants too many to mention, all nationalities. T.O. is the best city in the world for multi cultural dining. The Bamboo was my old haunt, especially on Mondays, R and B night.
I loved hanging out in Yorkville just for the vibe. Toronto is about the people, really is.
Yes, downtown, you need income, if not "money".....
Consider heading outside, lots of great places within an hour or so.

Yeah, thank God it isn't Montreal.
Unlike Montreal, Toronto has a subway that doesn't break down everyday. People are politer in Toronto. Toronto is a lot cleaner than Montreal, a city which perpetually has that "trashed after the party look". Litter and graffiti everywhere. Then you have to deal with the Quebecois, a people who have poor manners and don't respect any kind of laws or regulations. A Japanese dude who visited Montreal asked me "What's with the staring from the seated passengers there every time I get on a city bus?" "It's a Quebecois thing dude." I told him. In Toronto, people respectfully mind their own business.
Montreal is a great place if you're nuts about partying in bars, seeing strippers or eating smoked meat sandwiches. Not a good city to live in either. You won't make money there.
