|
|
My state CRC check from the US (Washington state) was done online.
I was told to do it online.
I paide a small fee, and got it in seconds, and printed it out.
Now I need to Apostille it, right, and that's all, correct?
I've done the FBI check before, but it took 6 weeks through snail mail for me to get it.
Will the Korean authorities accept a CRC state chect gottn online?
TIA. |

ONLINE CRC
The U.S. Embassy states "Korean Immigration informed the Embassy on July 17, 2008, that they will no longer accept criminal records checks provided by an on-line service."

Thanks ? mark.
I am honestly getting sick of this.
So, I am not supposed to get an FBI check that takes 6 weeks?
I've done the FBI one before.
Or, can I get a NON-online state check?
I'll have to call, visit the offices, and ask.
Korea is getting ridiculous. I've worked in 3 other countries, and am considering Korea for the first time.
My patience is wearing thin. |

If you click around on www.hikorea.go.kr you can find the requirements for the E-2 Visa. It specifically says there that CRCs cannot be done online, just as a second source to validate it.
Is that the only way to get a state check in Washington--by doing it online?
A note that if you're considering Korea in the future (beginning sometime next year, I don't know exactly when) you will need an FBI check; state checks will not be acceptable. |

I'm bumping this thread because my home state of Washing (where I'm at now) says no one can get a CRC that is not online.
Because....if you walk into the Washington state patrol office, or state office to get a CRC, they will pull it from the internet.
What am I supposed to do?
Get an FBI check that will take 6 weeks.
Appreciate any help anyone can give.
Thanks. |

Hey Denali,
You can use either a state or FBI level criminal background check for now. Although, I hear they are changing the requirement to FBI level next year.
The state level cannot have been retrieved from online. For me, in Oregon, I did the fingerprinting at a local police station and then sent the fingerprints and a criminal record request form into the STATE police office (identification services). The form was found on their website. I received the CBC check in the mail 8 days later. Perhaps it is similar in Washington?
Good luck! |

It also looks to me like you have the mail request option. |

I am not in Oregon. In Washington state - seriously - you give your full name, DOB, driver's license and all that and your given an online report.
It's the only way it can be done.
WA state does not take fingerprints, except for a county check (I know this doesn't make sense).
Tomorrow, I'll go get fingerprinted and mail in the FBI check, but it's 6 weeks, and that is pushing it for me. |

My state CRC check from the US (Washington state) was done online. I was told to do it online.
~Most South Korea schools want the background check done by the process of fingerprinting background check not online. You may want to ask the requesting agency before proceeding with the online check so you don't squander money. You can tell them that's how your state does the background check, via online, to see if they let you do it.
I've done the FBI check before, but it took 6 weeks through snail mail for me to get it.
~Due to budget cuts, the FBI are taking longer with the background checks. Beginning of 2009, it took 1 week to get back the FBI background check. As the economy tanked in the U.S. it took longer and longer. They went from 1 week to 3 weeks to 6 weeks and now sometimes it takes 3 months to get back your background check. You should send in 2 ink cards to be on the safe side because if the FBI can't read your fingerprints on the card, you have to wait another 6-12 weeks. Note: Although the FBI employs the most efficient methods for processing these requests, processing times may take up to 12 weeks depending on the volume of requests received.
Now I need to Apostille it, right, and that's all, correct?
~After you get the background check, yes you need an apostille on it. Depending on your access and how long it takes to process apostille, you might have to contact an apostille agency like apostille pros www.apostillepros.com
They can get the apostille faster and all you have to do is send them your original document. They FedEx it back to you or to South Korea.
Hopefully everything works out for you. The best thing to do is contact your requesting agency about the background check. They should have all the answers.

I also did an online CRC in Washington State. It was accepted by the Korean consulate in Seattle in 2009.
It required three things:
1. Get a print-out of online check.
2. Take the print-out to the WSP headquarters in Olympia, where a secretary verified the record and wrote a notarized letter stating that the attached was accurate. She also notarized the print-out.
3. Get the whole mess apostillated. |
