New Visa/Travel rules changed on July 1st????

I'm a little confused on this. I was reading my newsfeed on facebook today and this popped up...

Referring to why this person can't go on vacation:

"They changed the visa rules on July 1st. You need to have 6 months or more left on your ARC card. I asked immigration if I could file an extension and they said I had to have less than 2 months left. Awful."

Is this true? If so what does that mean? I leave for vacation on Saturday!!! Shocked

I believe they were trying to get a visa for China.

As long as you have a valid re-entry permit or multi-entry visa you are fine to go on vacation out of the country.
