|
|
A friend is visiting me in Korea from the US and she would like to also see Hong Kong and Kyoto/Nara in Japan (her trip is 3 weeks). For tickets to Hong Kong and Japan in September, does it make the most sense to book soon? Or will prices come down if we wait closer to the date of travel? I know it's not a peak time for travel from Korea, as Koreans tend to have their vacation in July (or sometimes early August).
Thanks! |

If it's during Chuseok (week of Sept 21-23) it would be best to go ahead and get them now. |

It'll be the first and second week of September, not Chuseok yet. Just wondering as sometimes it pays to wait a little, as prices sometimes drop... |

Sure it's worth a shot. Not too many people will be traveling then. |

Watch on Cathay's home page for pricing.
You can often get daily deals on select flights or on their HK now packages.
I'd start looking now and book when you find a price you like (400k range).

Thanks for the advice, I'll check Cathay's page often. What about for travel to China? I am deciding between China proper and Hong Kong for September. I'd like to go to Xi'an (I have a friend there) but Kangsan Travel quoted me only about 350,000 from Seoul to Beijing (still seems a little steep), but more than 700,000 roundtrip to Xi'an! I mean, I know Xi'an is farther away, but not THAT much farther away...Any good websites to check for good prices Seoul to various Chinese cities?
Thanks again! |

Book ASAP. Especially for Japan, flights book out weeks in advance. I tried to go to Tokyo tiwce earlier this year with 2 weeks notice and there were no tickets. One was a long weekend though.
Hong Kong will also be booked out at certain times. I looked into going on the long weekend in May and it was booked out a month in advance.
Looked into going to Taipei last month and the only tickets left were ridiculously expensive.
Book early. |
