Well, I guess there are two possibilities.
First, somewhere in their ancestry, there were some caucasian people involved. But given that it appears the couple or their recent ancestry is only recently from Africa, this must be exceedingly unusual.
Second, this could be an incredibly rare mutation that causes a black person's baby to have the pigmentation of a caucasian without actually being albino. Possibly, this is how caucasian people originally came into existence. |

I'm hoping this is the case... It would simultaneously boggle the minds of racists AND provide us an incredible insight into where our current "racial identities" come from.
Though if I had to place a bet, I'd put money on an answer more in line with Occam's Razor... |

Maybe three: switched at birth?
Anyway, why are the doctors so sure the baby is not albino? And I'd compare the DNA.
(And for the record, I was nowhere near that woman! ) |

Switched at birth ... possibly ... DNA testing is required before speculating ...
Anyway, geneticists will tell you that in cases like this, it's often just a matter of how the jeans came down ... |

Isn't it ironic that if it is a completely natural phenomenon that the white baby will be treated as "special," "unique" and "like an angel" ? |

have a friend whos turkish. usually turkish people are rather tanned, have black hair and dark brown eyes.
that guy has rather pale skin, strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes.
its not as drastic as the case from the article... but still.
come to think of it.. what about albino's?
seen a chinese albino... white hair, blue eyes, skin paler than mine (and im already very white..) |

no, the child has some pigmentation (like a Caucasian person has).
Physicians and geneticists are also saying the child is not an albino. If that was the case, I wouldn't of bothered posting this here. |

"Even if there had been convergence of a pale version of the parents' genes, there would have to be some form of white ancestry on both sides for the baby to look this way."
No s**t. The parents are Nigerian - quite a few Nigerians have white ancestary somewhere down the line. They even have pure white Nigerians living in the Akwa Ibom/Delta area. |
