I use Fring. It links to your skype account, as well as some other IM accounts. So, you can make calls using your Skype account. You can use fring just like skype if the person you are calling also uses fring. |

VOIP with Fring has yet to work with me on a Motoroi. It's rather exacerbating. Chat works fine though. |

The first time I used it, it had a 1 second lag. Basically unusable. that was to a dodgy land line out in the sticks. A skype to skype call to the center of a large city worked great, last time I used it. I'm guessing infrastructure plays a role in call quality.
I doubt the phone has anything to do with it. Did it work at all? or no connection to speak of? Try the test call and see what happens. |

I can place the call fine; there's just no audio on the receiving line. I can hear what they say but not vice-versa. Still not sure why. Firmware is up to date. |

Since Kies was brought up in this forum i have 2 questions regarding to my Galaxy S and Android.
1st: When connecting my device via USB with Kies open it recognizes the Galaxy but then says to connection in PC Connection (Kies) mode. How do I change my phone to do this? I can easily do so in my old Samsung flip (just change it from mass storage to pc connection). I've tried having my galaxy mount itself for usb and leaving it as is, neither one gets me any results. Anyone got the solution?
2nd: When i turn the phone on it gives me the option to disable the 3G data connection. Since I have wifi at home and work I don't see the need in having this connection enabled (drain on battery, I don't use any apps that would need it over wifi and I don't wanna accidentally blow my transfer allowance somehow). If I say no to this, how can I reconnect to the 3G data network without having to restart my phone?
Thanks |

1)on homescreen press ur bottom left button..u should see option for settings..select 'wireless and network' then 'usb settings'..have the option there between samsung kies and mass storage. personally i sacked off kies and just connect up with usb...when u plug in swipe down from the notification from top and select mount. this is been far better for me that kies
2)in same setting menu select 'wireless and network' then scroll down..3g data call settings. u can select on/off/ask on power on settings
hope that helps
also a tip for if u want to track your phone minutes/texts/3g data use u should really get the 'carrier plan' app/widget from android market. the name is in korean '무료통화조회'...its in the tools section on the korean android market. registering is in korean unfortunately so u might need to go to a store or ask a korean to help. i couldnt get the 3g wtachdog working but this is better as it monitors all 3 that could incur extra charges |

I have games on my Galaxy S without having to get the torrent off Demonoid. Use App Brain and then the Fast Web Install. Works like a charm for me!
Also, Swype isn't on the Korean Galaxy S because Swyping hangul is apparently hard and they decided to disregard the fact that the english keyboard is still on the phone. I read that off the XDA-Developers forum in a reply to one of my posts. |

How do you get games from Appbrain? I've synced it and installed the Fast Web Install, but when I try to dl the game, I get the "Not Found" error message.
I managed to find a working version of Swype. I have version 1.56.30.7625.
Another similar app is Shapewriter. I found that courtesy of Google. |

Does anyone have any links to good korean language study apps or podcasts? I am really missing these apps from my old ipod touch. Any help would be appreciated. |

Has anyone got the automatic upgrade message last week? I tried it, and after my phone rebooted i think it said it failed, along with more bootleg English. The lazy folks at Samsung Korea not contacting Samsung America for translations, or even putting a competent person on the job.
