Agreed.. I havent seen any hot girls in their for like 7 years! hahahahaha
the place is gross... and 95% of the women have been passed around to many times to rememeber.... Ive seen girls from 2002 days still in there.
imagine how many guys she has banged?? fun chick im sure ahahahhaa

Itaewon needs more bars! MUCH MORE BARS!!! scrooge, 3 alleys, helios and geckos are all tired and sorry bars!
if itaewon is gonna move up then we need more korean business owners coming in and opening more bars! expensive bars to get rid of the riff raff!

Itaewon will be yuppie central when Yongsan is given back. You'll get your wish where the hooch and cooch is overpriced.

thats cool with me, and then the foreigners can move out of Itaewon and move somewhere else.. maybe down from itaewon hannam or bogwandong.. then all the foreigners will move there and we start the process over again.., and itaewon will be for koreans with no foreigners then koreans will venture down where we are and all the Itaewon korean bar owners will be wondering where are all the foreigners? and they can keep their over price bars and premiums..

I too have seen the owner at Rocky Mountain Tavern slap his barstaff on the ass at work. I thought that was a very unprofessional move, and was a little taken back that it happened. At least he could try to keep that kind of harassment behind the scenes. Also, I was there last Wednesday meeting some friends. My friends had some special Korean donuts they offered for me to try. As I was about to put one in my mouth, the one Korean staff member with long yellow hair (kind of looks like an anorexic clown) swooped down on our table and informed us that we could not eat that in here and that I had better put it back in the box and put it away (it was already in my hands going for my mouth). I asked if she was serious, and tried to play off the awkward moment by saying, "Well I'm not actually EATING it just sampling a morsel of my friends..." to which she replied, "no, I'm serious my boss is right over there and watching us." I was thoroughly appalled and had I not been with such a big group I would have moved our party elsewhere. I don't plan to ever patronize RMT again after that little incident.
As far as 3 Alleys, I have only been there a few times and am for the most part pleased with it, especially the 300 won wing night. One thing I have found that is pretty F-ing ridiculous is the fact they charge 2,500 for a glass of water even if you are eating and drinking beer and spending money there. That's a pretty asinine thing if you ask me. Next time I'll be sure and sneak in a 500 won bottle of water from a convenient store. F sticks...

Yeah, but at least TJ has Donkey shows.

Well, Itaewon and TJ both have urban legends apparently.

The Donkey Show isn't an urban legend.

It is in Tijuana. I've been down there dozens upon dozens of times. It has even become a running joke among touts. The only "donkey show" are the photos you can take with so-called donkey-zebras.

I can't speak for other Mexican border towns or cities.

http://wikitravel.org/en/Tijuana

"Donkey shows - Tijuana got rid of the infamous donkey shows decades ago, which is a sexual performance involving women and animals. This was part of Tijuana's attempt to clean up its image. To see a donkey show, you will have to go to a Texas border town. In Tijuana, many of the nude show establishments have some rather seedy shows, but you will certainly never walk into one of them to see any shows involving women and animals of any kind. Occasionally, strip club hecklers will attempt to lure you into their establishment by claiming a donkey show, but today there is no donkey show in Tijuana. The donkey died several years ago."

Donkey shows exist, they just don't like tourists to take part in them.
I've seen the donkey, and it was glorious

3 alley is the worst bar in Itaewon! the owners are complete tools! treat their staff like crap and their customers.. but in a city like seoul they dont have to worry about customer service! because there is plenty of new business from foreigners.. a bar like that wouldnt survive in a town back home.. nothing special about that bar at ALL!

helios and geckos is not far behind!
seoul pub and nashville not that much better...

once the government tears down half of yongsan, we are going to see a NEW and exciting Itaewon! and youngsan GU.. we are going to see COUNTLESS new super bars, clubs, cafes in this area.. and 3 alley and the rest of the bars will have their work cut out for them.. Koreans with money will do what they do best.. imitate on a grand scale , make it bigger and sometimes better... koreans will saturate the maket around there.. I mean its slowly happening already..
and give much more variety to the foreign community!
if anyone has been here since 2000 you will see how Itaewon has changed in the last 10 years.. just wait 10 or 20 years! it will be a complete NEW PLACE! or under a pile of rubble!

ohhh thats if half you guys are still alive or even here!

Really?? I've drunk there a bit, and I kind of know Al, but I've never been charged for water. Is that going on in Sam Ryans as well? If they do that regularly that's lame.

If I find out that the owner has been 'buying me drinks' in the form of the ice water I never paid for I'll be.. shocked. And kind of disgusted.

Water should be free as Willy.

I'm not sure as I've never been to Sam Ryans, but I can tell you that I was told I would have to pay for water the last time I went there for beer and wings (and water to try and stay somewhat hydrated).

RE: 3 ally and Sam Ryan's

Why drink water at the pub? I have drunk copious amounts of fluid at both places and the staff has never left me thirsty. Razz Shocked

Sure beats waiting for a drink at like at other places.

That's odd. 3 Alley is historically notorious for the staff hounding patrons to buy a beer before they finish the one they're drinking. It's the fastest beer in Itaewon!

I went to 3 alley the other day. I was supposed to meet someone at Sam Ryans and wandered in there by mistake. One of the regulars bought me a drink almost immediately, without even trying to get my phone number or anything. It probably helps that I'm an attractive 40-something and that most of those regulars seemed to be much older than me. My friend joined me after a few minutes and no one bothered, or put the rush on us.

Where exactly is 3 Alley???

I've probably been there but I get them mixed up. Anyway, the 5,000W Sam Adams sounds mighty nice... I've never been one to notice service, bad or good.

What's the crowd/music like?

Itaewon is a haven of multiculturalism and idiosyncrasy in this hive of xenophobia, arrogance, and cookie cutter thinking called Korea--with many surprising pockets of kindness interspersed, mind you. Always a very nice surprise!

It is an absolute necessity for escape, on occasion, from the stifling uniformity.

The worst place in Itaewon is easily the crowded and claustrophobic sidewalks. The waves of summer sewage stench don't help.
