What are the best/most reliable schools for teaching adults? And which recruiters have this type of work? Would be coming in as an E2, so don't want to get into a bad situation.
I'm looking for a school/chain which:
-pays on time
-doesn't force overtime
-doesn't fire teachers for being sick one day, or other trivial reasons
-has a positive work environment
any info would be appreciated. |

Depends on what you are looking for in terms of benefits. Adult hagwons usually pay lower and offer no form of housing assistance outside of some key money. They also usually require some prior teaching experience and having a CELTA or business degree certainly doesn't hurt. I work at an adult haggy and the job is insanely easy, they pay on time and management is pretty cool. If anyone came on this sight and complained about the place I would have to question the poster's character.
On the other hand, I'm not trying to save money but just pay the bills to live and go to school.
Unless savings are no big deal, Kids are where most of the market is at my friend. Especially for E-2s. Sorry if you wanted to hear otherwise. |

I used to work for YBM, the largest adult hagwon chain in Korea. They have several different "divisions", some of which teach kids and you'll probably hear bad things from some posters about their kids divisions. However, YBM ELS is the adult division and they have a great reputation.
It was my first job in Korea, I had no previous experience or certifications--just a regular old E-2. My pay was 2.1 million a month, received a monthly housing allowance of 200,000 won plus 10mil key money (this may differ depending where you are--I was in Daegu).
Reliable pay, don't fire for trivial reasons, and they don't force overtime (although you will be contractually required to work 4 hours on Saturdays for 2 months with overtime pay). Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. |
