When I mentioned Michelob, it was because it just popped into my head as something I drank with my Dad many years ago. But I don't even remember hearing about it in like 5 years or so. I was not sure they even made it anymore. So I googled and found out they have like 6 to 10 beers now depending on the season, including porter, honey wheat, Irish Red, pale ale, stone mill, and Dunken Weisse. I may have to give them a try when I go home in September.
Anyone tried any of them? |

Yes. They are just so-so. If I saw a 6er for 5.99, I might grab it.
There are much better beers out there.
The big macro companies are trying to play the craft beer game.
A few decent ones out there, but you'd be better off finding a real craft
beer and sticking with it when you get back in Sep. Let me know if you're taking suggestions, and what area of the country you'll be in.
ratebeer is a really good resource for reviews, events and brewery locations.

Sure, why not? The Sarasota, Florida area, which boasts one of the USA's best and highest rated beaches, Siesta Key, at least until the oil spill gets there! I'll need a good beer to cry in. |

I have a friend (god bless his soul) who goes to watch spring traing in Fort Meyers every year. He's been to the Saratosa Brewery - forget exactly what he said about it.
I also know that Yuengling is pretty close to Saratosa. One of the posters here was raving about this beer. Try it out.
I guess one thing you could do is take your dad, bro, uncle, friend, lady to the pub and talk it up with the bartender/brewer. They always love geeking out on beer preferences. You'd get a good idea of what other local beers to try from them.
A lot of the local craft brews in cities can usually be found at a 7-11 or convenient store...sometimes even at a big grocer for a pretty decent price. One thing I always like to do is hit up a bottle shop and pick and choose a few varietals. Good luck. Wish I could help more with Saratosa. Never been. |

Anheuser-Busch is trying to jump in the craft beer game with mass marketing and marginal beers. I was in San Diego last year and they had giant billboards all over the city promoting Bud American Ale. Compared to regular Bud it was fantastic. But compared to something like Arrogant Bastard or even Sierra Nevada, it was pretty, meh.
Coors is doing a better job with Blue Moon, but I still chuckle about the screw-off cap. Why? |

Yeah, I believe they make it up in Tampa, which is about an hour north of where I live over the Skyway Bridge. It's ok, but I don't share his high opinion of it. I will be content to drink some more reasonably priced(compared to Korea) imports like Guinness and Coopers and Newcastle Brown Ale, while ever ready to try out some of the various crafts. Someone's got to do it, may as well be me. |

Stone Brewery makes very nice craft beers. Arrogant Bastard is one of their best.

| Korean beer totally sucks. Why do you think so many guys here add Soju to their beer? To give it some balls. It's the most boring beer I've ever come across in my travels. Cass? Ass. Hite? Shite. OB? Original Bollocks. If I'm REALLY desperate, I can just about handle a Cafri. The variants (Lemon, Ice, Red) are laughable. As I said, salvation comes in the form of Soju, the drink of Champions. |

Cafri? You must be joking, man. That has got to be the absolute worst K-beer ever made! What in the world do you like about it? The clear bottle is its only redeeming value. Is that it? The clear bottle makes you think your drinking Corona or maybe something decent? 
Actually, salvation comes from makgoli and dongdongju, which are really beers themselves. |

Funny you should say that. I always that that was what Corona was all about. IMAGE. The Corona marketing people should get paid extra, because the beer is not at all exceptional, at least not enough to command the top notch import prices that it does.
Any beer that needs a lemon slice to make it more drinkable needs to hang its beer head in shame. |

Not for nothing, but here is my beer buying philosophy, not only here but back in the states as well. I usually buy, with some exceptions, whatever imports are on sale. Here in Korea they charge the same per bottle whether you buy one or six, so you can mix it up if you want.
For example, yesterday I went into Lotte and bought 4 cans of Oettinger Weizens @1550won, and 2 bottles each of Beck's Dark and Leffe Brown @2250won. Then I went next door to the Homeplus and bought 4 bottles of Asahi @2000won, and 2 bottles of Guinness Draft @2760won(sometimes ya gotta splurge!). The other one I splurge on sometimes is Coopers, but it was @3760 won yesterday.
They had Moosehead on the discount shelf @1950 but I passed. |

I don't really understand the Guiness Draft? Wouldn't draft' mean from the 'drought', 'tap', keg', ya know? The GD is not good. Travel, distance .. maybe?? Not sure.
Ultraviolet rays kill beers that travel in clear bottles. That is ONE reason not to buy clear bottled brew. Green, not much better. There is a reason the majority are brown.
Yes, Corona is all image. Beach, Corona, lime, salt, lawn chair....doesn't it make you want to spend 12 pesos on a COOOLLLDDD bevvvy?
Do I like a Modelo or Bohemia in the hot sun. Yesss! But, those are when options are limited. I chilled Max is also OK on a hike in the woods.
I think the Leffe is the most decent on your list.

Someone suggested the Black Beer and Max for the black n' tan in an earlier post. I did that this aftn. Not too shabs.  |
