Does anyone know about the foreigner crown in Anyang, particularly around Beomgye station. Are there and good restaurants, foreigner bars, or possibly a foreigner soccer team? Thank You!

Hmmm, Beomgye has a lot to offer foreigners, HAppidus is usually busy on the weekends with enough Koreans to make it not feel like Itaewon, for the crew that don't want Koreans around, the Dugout on hagwon-ga is pretty new and foreign owned. It's a pretty tight clique that hangs out there.

Slang is a small dance bar thats pretty fun late night. There's other options like FAMILY MART, Indian bar, Number 10 as well.

I don't know much about soccer, but their's lots of basketaball to be played and their is a foreign baseball team that plays out of nearby Gwacheon Government Complex.

That is awesome thank you, where is Hagwon road? I am actually very happy to hear there is a basketball team, I am not very good at soccer but that's the only thing i've been able to find in Korea so far. Do you know how I can contact someone about playing basketball?

not a team per say, but in between Beomgye and Pyeongchon with a huge park... lots of good pick up ball to be played there... Hagwon ga is about a 10-15 minute walk away, or a short taxi ride

The park is Anyang's Central park. Football field, badminton, tennis, skating, basketball, BOWLS. All sorts. I've been wanting to play tennis/badminton there for some time but I have no friends to play with.

There are free Korean classes nearby Beomgye Station in the mornings. I think they're at the Anyang community center. I've never been to any because of my schedule, but it's probably easier to meet people there than at Happy Days.

If you want to get to Hagwon-ga, then walk down the pedestrian street at Beomgye Station away from the exits toward Acro Towers. Turn right at the Family Mart at the very end, and walk down that street for ten minutes until things start to get shiny and flashy again.

Happidus is okay. The main owner has done quite a bit to alienate much of the regular foreigner crowd. Happidus used to be a really nice place to hang out, but not so much anymore. I've moved my business elsewhere.

10 Bar and Indian are nice. The staff is friendly and speaks enough broken English combined with my broken Korean that I can get by. 10 Bar has probably the most proper cheeseburgers you can get outside of Seoul. Tom Tailor's is about the best Mexican grub you can get in the area as well - it's above Watson's on the top floor. Danke is another bar but I rarely see foreigners there. I've heard some hang out at The Beach but I've not been there and occasionally you can find peeps hanging out at Atlanta Bar as well. They are all along the main strip of Beomgye station. I'd recommend being fairly drunk when you go to Slang, it will help. When you wake up the next morning you will have what is known as a "Slangover." Have fun with that. Now that it's summer you can roll up to any Family Mart or GS or public space for that matter and drink sooo cheaply. Don't be shy about striking up conversations with other foreigners either, how else will you meet people?

The Dugout on Hagwon-ga is nice, a bit hard to find but once you're there it's a good place to hang. Drinks are cheap and the place is new. Dunno what the previous poster meant about it being a "tight clique" there. ..

From what I've been told there are some good pick-up games to be had on the courts at Central Park. It's also a great park to chill at, people watch, drink and read.

Thanks all that information is very helpful. I have been in Korea for about 2 years now from Suncheon, to Suwon and now to here. I guess I was just wondering if there was a foreigner owned bar where people normally hang out at. I have nothing against Korean owned bars but I don't know anyone in this area yet so I wouldn't go alone. I am definitely interested in basketball for anyone who does that let me know. Anyone who wants to play any sports I am always looking for that kind of stuff. It is amazing how many people have replied already to my post, thank you all for the information I definitely have something to go on now!

The Dugout is great, and really friendly. Absolutely recommended!

Indian Bar is cool too, but it depends on when you go in as to whether you'll meet anyone.

Happidus is still good. Quite a few peeps in there, no matter which night. More on Wednesdays (Quiz Night) and a lot more on Fridays.

Danke is a terrible place with a very nasty owner. I will never go in there ever again, and so wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I used to go to Bar 10, it used to be full of fratboy a-holes a year or so ago. I've not been in since. Maybe its different now.

Go to the places I suggest and you'll find lots of awesome people who play pick-up dames all the time.

Was wondering the same thing! I live right by Anyang Station...but most of the foreigners I see appear to be pretty stand offish! Anyone knows what goes on near Anyang station?

Having never been to Dugout, I can't speak to it's bar, but if you want a place to sit, have a beer at the bar and meet some Westerners, Bar 10 is where I've had the best experiences. It's a little pricey, but the general environment beats the hell out of Happidus. Also, most of the staff speak excellent English so you can chat with them a bit if you're alone, particularly Felix, the manager.

In my opinion, Happidus is way, way too big for the number of people it fits, and the owner's concept of design makes the place downright unpleasant to be in. Christmas lights year round and a light so bright over the pool table that it feels like daylight all the time. As for the frattyness previously found at Bar 10, I think it may have migrated over the Happidus, considering the bottles smashed on pool tables during sporting events.

Atlanta is really nice in the summer if you get one of the window seats, as you can sit on the second floor with an open air view of Beomgae strip to people watch. This is usually where I go since it got warm.

Slang has its ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like a bar, sometimes it feels like a club.

MC Bar in Anyang can be a lot of fun, if you like the idea of a hip hop club (good old Korean political correctness, it says "black music" on the sign). There are usually very, very few foreigners there, if any, but the Korean clientele is extremely friendly and tends to speak good enough English that you don't feel like a practice pincushion when you're there.

Liverpool, near Anyang Station, is a nice little pub where you can play Winning 11 on PS or watch football matches. Some foreigners find their way in there. I'm not nuts about it, but it's a decent little bar to hang out occasionally.

In Sanbon, a couple stops down from Beomgae, there are a couple bars worth visiting. Pirate Bar is really fun occasionally, as you can get beer in an ice glass and get to throw the glass at a target to win free drinks when you're finished. There's also a rooftop bar, I believe it's called Moby Dick's, that isn't too bad.

There used to be a really friendly, divey little joint called Uncle Don's in Indeogwon, but it got shut down due to noise complaints. That said, however, Don's wife Tiffany recently told my friend that they're supposed to open up again closer to Indeogwon Station in a larger space, which would really help in terms of having a bar to mingle at, as Happidus doesn't really fill the void.

I'm moving to Beomgye area next month. What are the apartments like over there? Decent sized and clean? I hope so!
