Was wondering if anyone from NZ/Aus/UK/Ireland etc had experience swapping their drivers license over to a Korean one?

The NZ embassy website tells me that I would need to take a written test at the driving center along with providing all necessary docs but, the center itself only mentions the physical one.

Which is correct?

I'm from NZ and did it in September last year when I was looking at buying a car~

I just went in to the testing center just out of Shinchon by bus~( 15 mins .. or lil bit longer ) Took in the docs required and filled out forms , lined up , got a number , waited , took the written test upstairs... did the eyesight test...etc and then waited for then to print the card.

You just give them ur NZ license and they hold it until you wish to return you Korean one..technically you are supposed to go in and change it over when you go home each time if you wish to drive in NZ.. but I didn't bother and just drove on my korean one hoping not to get stopped lol

And I did hear of someone getting the NZ one back for the a trip home and not having to hand in the korean one.. although that is not what the policy is from memory.

You can purchase a road rules book.. but when I called they were sold out .. so I just went in and did the test..it was pretty easy.. a couple of questions were worded a lil weird but mostly easy to follow~( prob poor translation I guess ) . You result will come up on the screen as it is multichoice and you have heaps of time to answer each question.

Just took one afternoon and pretty easy. That was Sep last year. I assume it hasn't changed since then. No driving test needed ~

Cheers~

Great, thanks a ton for the info!
I'll see if I can find the road rules online and have a look through that before taking the test.

No problem~
Don't sweat it if you can't find much on the test..it was mostly common sense stuff like the NZ one. I think I got 94 % or something .. they never told me which questions were wrong`( I mave have guessed a couple due to overthinking the questions that had some poor Englishee LOL ) but they guy(young Korean boy) in front of me got a 65 .. saw it on his screen .. and he was super happy! LOL

Oh and when you go upstairs for the test .. you have to wait until they are ready then go into the room at the front .. use a locker.. then they will tell you which computer to sit at.. they have one ready for you in Englishee ^^

Happy Driving!
