You're right, thanks. But wow people really need to pull whatever is up their behind out. Why you would go out of your way to insult someone on here is a little strange to me. Maybe go seek some help and unclench lol.

Anyways, thanks to the people who actually helped me.

Would you go to Britain and write "pownd"? Go to Europe and write "yuro"? How the "yan" for the Japanese money. "Doller" for American?

How do you expect anyone to give you a serious answer when you can't even spell the Korean money correctly?

Ok, thanks guys I think I am understanding it all now. Still confusing compared to here in the US I think but maybe that's just cause I'm used to it here. But I am still a little confused on why the phones are so much more expensive in Korea? Even the Korean phones like the samsung galaxy s is something like 750,000 in korea, when in the US it will be about $300. I understand its paid out over 2 years but that still makes the phone unbelievably more expensive than in the US. I don't even want to know what the iphone 4 will be priced at. Or am I just still way confused and completely wrong? Thanks in advance for any answer on that.

The phones are not more expensive here, at least not by the stretch you're thinking. The pricing is just advertised differently.

In the US, a phone is given a price and the plan you choose is very restricted. Because you have so few choices with the plan, the price of the phone is unchanging given you take the 2-year contract. If you want a 1-year or even no-contract, you will pay a lot more.

In Korea, the prices of the plans are very different and you have many more choices. Because of this, the phone is marked at full price and then you are given a discount based on what plan you pick.

For example (all prices estimated in my head and rounded off for ease):

US Galaxy S: $199.99 with 2-year $100 per month contract = 2-year cost of $2600.

ROK Galaxy S: 750,000 for the phone - 400,000 with 45k/month contract = $1200 for 2-year cost.

ROK Galaxy S: 750,000 for the phone - 600,000 with 75k/month contract = $1700 for 2 year cost.

In reality, the phones in Korea are much cheaper when you look at the total cost over the life of the contract. Before anyone jumps on me, yes, I know the two plans are very different (US = "unlimited" and Korea is about 200 min & texts plus 500MB data or more), but they're just an illustration.

Thanks kprrok! I think I actually get that. I have a korean friend who is going to help me get a phone, but I guess I'll just have to wait and get there to really know whats what. I'm just gonna stop freaking out about it lol. Seriously thanks a lot. Very helpful.
