Why not try to get some real experience in the field, instead of taking on debt? A degree doesn't equal job these days (if it ever did). Go make a short film, or try to get a low level job on a film set, or get the coffee in a studio. It will be more educational than a degree. How many people involved in film even have a degree from film school?

Of course, if you are doing film school for your own edification, you have my permission and blessing to go nuts.

I'd agree with no 1, but 2 and 3... not so much.

Film school is great (insanely expensive but great), though the industry is mostly technical positions, if that's what you want. You'd have better luck getting a job as a grip with experience as an electrician.

Friend of mine did film school at University of Iowa. They didn't have the specific program he wanted, but you can make your own, so he did. He spent a few summers in California, once as an assistant to an assistant of Steven Spielburg. He helped out on a couple of movies filmed in Iowa, he played a part in a Bollywood film, and right now he is the creative director for the World Triathalon, where this guy is swimming, biking, and running from the UK to Mt Everest which he will then climb.

Anyway, he's done alright with the degree, but so much of it has to do with personality, and he is the single most outgoing and personable person I have ever known.
