I'm starting to look into getting my F5 this year.
So far I'm aware that you need to be married for 2 years while working for the same place before you can apply. I believe in the past it was 5 years.
Last I heard you needed:
Passport (여권)
ARC (외국인등록증)
Letter of reference (신원보증서) --> Download at immigration website
Bank deposit for 30 million or proof of employment (은행 계좌 금액 3천만원 이상 or 제직증명서) --> From your bank or work
Proof of marriage (혼인관계증명서) --> 동사무소
주민등록등본 (For your spouse and children) --> 동사무소
Family relationship certificate (가족관계증명서) --> 동사무소
50,000 won cash
I've also heard lots of stories about penalties for silly things like having the wrong address or having been late renewing your visa in the past. I have a spotless record...except for one misunderstanding when I thought they had given me a new visa when they had actually transferred my employer to my old visa and so I was late renewing it (and fined 500,000). This happened about a year before I was married and I hope it doesn't affect my chances of getting an F5 this year.
Anyone have a recent news or problems with getting it? |

I got my F-5 after two years + one day of having an F-2, with zero immigration infractions. I don't think there is any requirement for two years of continuous employment, as I had just started a new job when I applied, but that may have changed.
If your fine was paid more than three years ago and you've had an F-2 for more than two years, along with all the docs you mentioned, you should be good to go.
