|
|
Has anybody ever gone on one of those organized tours through a Korean tour agency. My director gave me this advertisement that said 4 days in China for W300k. (Great Wall tour)
Anyway, I checked into buying a plane ticket to Beijing and it was really expensive.
300K seems like a great deal. (leaving from Pusan)
I like traveling on my own and doing what I want too, so should I do an organized tour?
Any advice? |

Not if it is with a Korean tour group. Twice to China with a Korean tour group and never again. Time on the great wall after a two and a half hour drive, 38 minutes. Time at a quilt making factory 2 hours. No thanks. |

I agree. I went to China last year (with an english speaking Korean tour) and after spending 90 minutes in the jade factory we went to the Great Wall. We were told we had 45 minutes. So i gathered about 20 of us out of 80 and said look, this is what we come here for so *beep* them because they won't leave without us.
So we climbed right to the top, took some fantastic pictures, cracked up some beers and drank up there for 30 minutes then came back down. Total time about 2 and a half hours.
So the guide was pretty pissed and said we now only have 40 minutes at the pearl factory on the way back. I pissed myself laughing at this great loss. Had some fantastic memories of that tour, so don't be pushed around by the tour guides, you have paid to see china, not some crap shops that they want you to buy stuff from.

i know a really good English speaking travel agant in Busan
www.kangsantravel.com
They do tours to China and I highly recommend them. All English speaking and a little bit less hectic than the Korean balli balli ones. |

If I decide not to use the travel agency...do you know how to get a cheap plane ticket. |

They also do cheap tickets, and they will mail them to you(you don't have to go to Busan). Just pay at the bank by doing a transfer. They have been 100% reliable and great.
BTW...I don't work for them but they have done some great things for me. |

Not bad but I think maybe you could do better. However, they are reputable.
Don't go Air China, the food was atrocious |

yeah...i think it was with Asiana Airlines.
It might be a little bit more expensive, but it's leaving on the days that I want to go. And I'm flying out at decent times. (no redeye) |

yeah, those are the spots i had planned on covering. I'm only going to be there from Wed.-Sun. Hopefully, things will work out.
What can expect from the Beijing nightlife? |

There is only one real place to drink.
Don't know what the name of it but I called it Bar Street.
Just a lot of bars all in a row. To the tourist everything shuts down in Beijing at about 10 or 11 at night(a shock after living here) and it was the only place you could drink until the small hours of the morning. There must be a curfew
Just ask your hotel(thats what i did) and they'll point you in that direction. |

Holiday Inn was about 90 000 won a night, don't forget i went on a package tour.
It included ticket there and back from Busan
3 nights accomodation at the holiday inn
All meals
All entrance fees and bus hire
All for 690 000 won.
Now that was a good deal |
