Hello all,

New to the board and almost new to Korea, departing on the 15th! I just wanted to bounce a few ideas around after spending a lot of time reading the posts on this forum.

Firstly, there is a lot of banter flying around regarding private lessons on an F2 visa as it seems to bypass this farce of having a BA in anything to teach. Is this fact? Can you teach private lessons after registering to do so on an F2 visa?

Secondly, I'm not one to shy away from fate so happy to study. What are my study options from within Korea on an F2? I'm seeing a lot of information regarding student visas but this is different, right?

Planned to study with the OU in England from afar but they pissed on my bonfire. Can't do distance learning from Korea you see.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

you can only register for F-2 once you marry a Korean citizen. a lot of us have, and can thus teach on the side.

I think the only way to legally work 2 jobs or more in Korea is if a foreigner has F-2

not sure what the student visa is, but im assuming you cant work with it

To legally teach privates you need to be on an F-2 or F-5. As the previous poster said, the only way to get an F-2 is by marrying a Korean (though there is a limited possibility for E-2's to get an F-2 via a new point system). You have to register with the local education office and present your credentials (i.e. your diploma, passport, ARC Card and transcripts).

If you do not do this, you are teaching illegally. I wouldn't be discussing that on here if that is the case.
