I have a toothache - trying to hit up the dentist next week. Any reccomendations around Itaewon that aren't too busy for a walk in and don't cost a fortune? |

Hyong Chee-Kwa is not technically in Itaewon but you can walk from the station in a few minutes. I think it's BogWang Dong but anyway you need to walk down the side street that runs opposite the Hamilton Hotel. Where the Red Door is. Keep walking on the same side as the Red Door (opposite side of Geckos) until you reach the end of the street. You should be in front of a bus stop and a mart at that point. Follow the road around to the left and it's in about the 2nd building, on the 3rd floor.
The dentist speaks English but his staff don't. Ph # is 02-790-8353.
I have found this guy to be very cheap, with or without insurance. |

Just to bump this...Seoulsister's directions are good, but I got a bit lost.
The best directions I can give are to head out exit 3 from Itaewon station, and turn right at the next intersection, near the Dunkin Doughnuts. Walk up the hill and along that road for about 5 minutes or so, passing a school on your left, and when the road begins to dip down you are getting close. You will pass a number of Korean restaurants, and as you approach a three-way intersection take notice of the buildings and doorways on your right. Keep your eyes out for the name: Hyong Chee-Kwa and a sign for a Canadian trained dentist.
The price is cheap, as of today it's 60,000 for general checkup and cleaning, even cheaper if you have insurance. This is compared to another dentist in Hannamdong popular with expats, who charges 120,000.
Hope this helps anyone. |

Does the 50% medical insurance provided by the school apply to dental work? Or just health care? |
