Where in Chungbuk? It's a big province. It can be quite rural but it also has some cities and is near to Daejeon. It's generally about an hour and ahalf away from Seoul by bus. |

Chungbuk is ok if you live in Cheongju or Chungju, otherwise it will be pretty rural. Just be glad you don't live in my tiny town, I'm the only waygook here! |

Living in the southern portion is really nice also. The small city/town that I live in has a bus that runs to Daejeon once every 15 minutes and that drops you off on the subway line so even though I live in a 'rural' I'm not too far away from things like costco and a bunch of other foreigners |

hm.... any of you waygooks living in rural towns in chungbuk want to have a local meet up sometime? My and my boyfriend are the only ones in our town too.... it might be nice to have some folks closer than the hassle of seoul to hang around with during the week. |

What town are you in? Chungju is a pretty cool place. If you work for a public school, you'll basically live in the same apartment as all the other foreign teachers in the town. |

This. I live in Cheongju (and now teach there as well), but I used to teach out in the boonies just outside of Cheongju. There is not much in those areas, maybe a Dunkin' Donuts or a Paris Baguette or something, but if you want anything decent in terms of clothing or huge supermarkets and and stuff, you're going to need to go to Cheongju or Chungju (and recently I've been hearing decent things about Jecheon, like they just got an E-mart there). Dunno about other places, but Cheongju is generally an hour and a half away from Seoul, give or take 10 minutes depending on traffic. In my opinion, the ride isn't bad at all. Cheongju though is the biggest city in Chungbuk and has a whole bunch of various clothing shops, fast food shops, and the like. And it's only 40 minutes away from Daejeon which has like, almost everything else. |

Haha i can't believe I am seeing this thread again, its been a while now since coming to chungbuk.
From what I understand the rules with animals depends on just where you are placed(city, town) and then what flat you get.
Basically its a crapshoot |
