The fact that there is a good chance pedestrians will be crossing I think it's a good idea to make it illegal to turn left until the arrow is shown. Otherwise there would be way more pedestrian deaths. |
This is starting to change already, and by next year many smaller intersections will have the option of turning left on green with no arrow if the way is clear. It will be marked by a sign over the signal light.
Prepare for that pedestrian death toll to rise. |

| I live in Shanghai where crossing the street is an adventure every day and I play street cop so pedestrians can cross. One day I will probably be killed. I carry an umbrella and hit cars some days. Chinese drivers here just have 0 respect for pedestrians and will kill people to save 30 seconds of waiting time at a light. |

I'm making a point, these days, of waving on taxis that don't have seat belts. It's utterly criminal how many of the taxis have the seat belts disabled. Most of them tuck the clicker down the back of the seat. The other day I hopped in a taxi with my GF, the actual clip of the belt had been fastened in place with a zip tie.
Just the other day, I was in another taxi, with my GF, and the driver had to apply the brakes suddenly which pitched my GF forward, as she is light and wasn't ready for it.
There is no way I'm getting in a taxi without seat belts from now on. |

| can't count the number of times I've cursed out a human guided missle in Korea. My twentieth near death experience happened yesterday. I pulled up next to the car and pounded as hard as I could with my fists. I left a couple of dents and it felt really good. |
