What type of area are you from/have you spent most of your life in? Has it helped you in Korea? Made it more difficult for you to adjust? |

Born and raised in an isolated rural area, then moved about six years ago to the city for College/ University.
I guess I would say it helped me when I studied in Korea for a bit because of being able to adjust to various lifestyles. And I guess the exposure to diffierent cultures also prepared me for any culture shock that I experienced. |

A burb of Portland, OR called Beaverton. It was only about 20,000 when I was a kid there 20 years ago. Now its 80,000 and urban sprawl has taken over.
Living in Seoul has shown me that I don't want to live in a big city. I would like to raise my daughter in a rural area when I go back to Oregon. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 1000-3000 people. |

Raised in a rural area. Our road connected the hwy to another road and we had about 20 ppl live there. 3 miles to a town of about 2000. 15 miles to Wal-mart. |

I moved around lots as a kid, mostly between small towns and mid sized cities, but I lived in a city of about 6 million for a bit as well. Being the new kid in a small town with an accent from another part of the country was great training for being a blonde girl in Asia. Newbies often complain about the stares in Korea, but I barely even noticed them!

I grew up in the wonderful city of Spokane, a city of around 200k and known for such attractions as a garbage eating metal goat.
My city didn't really help me adjust as much as my university did. Living with maladjusted people and partaking in seminars with people who would bring up things like the force when discussing ecology went a long way in helping me adjust to the oddities of Korea. |

I see about a third of us are from a small town or rural area. That clicks with those I've met over the years here. |
