Even if they should avoid it, cops should be trained to disarm a healthy 240 pound 20 year old man with a knife - bare handed.

hahahahhahha

no, wait, are you serious?

Where the heck did you get this fantasy from, movies??

I agree they should be trained so that hopefully they will be able to do that. It is possible that for some reason they may be dis-armed during a scuffle and are unable to straight-out shoot the perp.

If they have a firearm, then forget the tazer in that scenario. Just shoot his ***.

Come on. A bare handed cop against a big young man... taze the effer. Why should a cop risk their life?

I think you misunderstood my meaning. A cop should be trained in ways to handle such a perp bare-handed in the event they are left with only that option.

A tazer, I believe, would be the first option, but depending on the situation maybe it could be better to just shoot the guy.

(I'm not a cop but I can envision a scenario where it would be more wise to forego the tazer and make the guy eat a bullet.)

Sure, bare handed brawling should be trained, but ontheway said it should be the first option, not the last resort.
