|
|
The FBI website says we can print out their standard fingerprint form (FD-258) and use that to mail in our fingerprints.
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm
Has anyone done this on A4 paper and had it accepted OK by the FBI? I am in Thailand just now and there is no US "Letter" size paper; doubt there is any in Korea either.
I can trim off the extra half inch from the bottom of the paper, but the A4 paper is still a tad thin, and this makes all the fingerprint boxes just slightly out of position from the "letter" paper they are probably expecting. I tried setting printer option to "letter" but then some stuff got cut-off (it's a full page, no margin, form).
I hate to send in a paper that is going to jam their sorting machine and get them really mad. Anyone had success with the A4 size paper for FBI fingerprints?
Thanks, |

I do not believe that will work.
They use some special card stock to read from. You should be able to obtain it at any large police office in most countries.
I believe that they only will allow the use of paper to confirm identity, not issue a background check. |

Actually the FBI states:
The FBI Criminal Justice Information Services Division will accept the downloaded paper fingerprint card only for the purposes of requesting an FBI Identification Record through Departmental Order 556-73. If you go to a law enforcement agency or private fingerprinting agency to be fingerprinted, they may prefer to use a fingerprint card on standard card stock. You may use the fingerprint card provided by the fingerprinting agency.
Also a few people on this forum have posted here about downloading and printing the form and having it accepted, just not sure if they were in America with letter paper.
My question is more about the size of the paper. US letter paper is shorter and wider than the worldwide A4 standard. Anyone have luck getting the FBI to accept the A4 size paper for the fingerprints?
