I am trying to pre download starcrat2 from the official site, but it I am having trouble getting through the authentication process. It requires a korean SSN and my alien registration card # doesn't work.

Is there any way around this process, or can I just download an US copy of the game?

Go down to the bottom and change the website region to US battle.net.

Anyone got a fix for this? Changing region didn't do anything for me. I can change it to US English and it still gives me the login error. I tried South East Asia and it just boots me back to login screen whenever I put in my info (I assume my b.net account doesn't even exist on the SE Asia servers?) I even had my brother back home in the States log in and he got the same error.

I emailed Blizzard over a week ago and the response I got after 5 days was an automated response with ~10 links to other problems, and it said if those links didn't help (they were irrelevant) to reply to the email. I did, 2 days ago, and still no answer.

I just finished downloading, and it's the Korean version. How do I change the language for the download to English.

I'm not positive on this, but I think the region where you bought it from determines the language of the game. If you want English language, you actually have to buy the North American version. Like there are a lot of Latin American players who are pretty angry at Blizzard, because they are stuck with a Spanish language version of the game, which supposedly has really horrible voice acting. So, I think you are stuck with the Korean language version.

That's right. Korean version only has the Korean language. As usual the pirates will have an easier and better experience than legit users.

You can download the ENUS version from torrent, and then simply repoint it towards the Korean servers. But, my computer doesn't like the version of unpacking utility that they use.

I'll wait to buy until he sorts out the localizer for south korea. Since my bnet account was made in Canada a long time ago it actually let's me choose which version of the game I want to buy. The problem is I can choose either a Korean low ping version or an English high ping version. It is really stupid. Blizzard has seriously gone down hill in recent years.
I think WoW made them arrogant.

Or activision made them stupid.

It's pretty awesome that I can't play a game I paid for in PC bangs. Guess I'll go back to pirating.
