I'm a 23-year old American female who has been teaching in Korea for almost a year. I'd like to help those that have questions or concerns about living or teaching in Korea. Feel free to do one or all of the following:

Visit my blog: http://www.onlyinkorea87.wordpress.com

Email me: [email protected]

Visit my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/onlyinkorea87

ALSO: if you'd like to request videos on YouTube (like say you have questions or requests) let me know and I'll make sure the video is a direct response.

Welcome to this board!

I'm going to warn you now that there are a LOT of knuckleheads on here who want to drag everyone down to their level of misery. Please ignore them. This board needs more people who are helpful, honest, and happy.

Great (sincerely) that you're having a positive experience in Korea. But isnt setting yourself up as Answerwoman after 11 months a bit presumptuous?

Plenty of questions already pop up here every day. Inform away. But be aware that "teaching in Korea" is a complex animal. So is Daves.

I was all ready to mock you and criticize you, but you know what, I liked your blog. Good pictures in particular. There's a voice there. Good luck!

OP it is good you want to do this.

I wish you the best and hope you manage to help some people.

However, after only 11 months in Korea, you should be careful about the giving out advice. Wink

Welcome to Daves as well.

what, as opposed to all the other people in this forum who aren't open-minded and willing to assist others?

yeah, eleven months is a little short. hey, help is help, but i personally wouldn't be making threads advertising the fact that i've been here for a relatively short time and am "willing to help".

but, whatever.

One can easily help with what they know.
Or one with a strong logical mind can make healthy correct thoughts of advice.
Being here longer just means you have a wider range of things you can be certain about. If one needs a second opinion, it's unlikely a 30 year veteran who hates the country is going to be much help in the field of unbias.

I have been here 5 months and there is a LOT I could give out helpfully, if I gave a damn about people, which I don't, generally.

But whateva, foo'

You're right, that's why I don't even bother being notified after I've given my said advice. I don't take it personally when someone I don't know has nothing better to do than be mean just because. I figure when that happens, they're angry at themselves/someone else. In the end, I'm still being "helpful, honest and happy".

I'd like to thank everyone for the supportive comments/taking a look at my blog. Much appreciated Smile

Positivity is the best medicine! Very Happy

please, maybe put a link to the group page on your blog? i think seeing the group pics & posts has helped quell the angst of many who were worried they'd be all alone when they get here.
