Hey guys, maybe you can help me out with my problem. I have a housing contract that ends on December 31, 2010 but I will be moving out on Sunday. I told my hagwon that I would be leaving about 3 months ago and they said that to get out of my housing contract I would have to pay a realtor fee of 200k-300k won. However, yesterday my boss said that they would withhold my final paycheck and continue to make rent payments out of it until they found someone new to take over my place.
Can they really withhold my paycheck? |

Sounds like hogwash to me. I don't know the specific course of action, but the labor board might be worth a shot.
I'm sure more knowable posters will be able to chime in. |

So, your boss will not allow you to end the contract? It's highly suspect that you can get out of a lease by paying a standard realtor fee. Typically, you have to pay the rent up to your expiry date plus realty fee. |
