Damn, why are people so paranoid? This is why its hard to make connections. I don't know your real name or your face. I just wanted to get a general idea of what all of you were up to in this strange land.

Because when you ask open questions in a country like korea.

When there are people who seek the negative to print in thier newspapers about NETs.

You dont want to put yourself out there.

I was pretty placid in response I thought.

Here's an example of how information gained on daves can be read.

"We did a survey and found out that (40%) of NETs don't live in Seoul, 'but (according to us) 80% of child sex crimes are committed in that city. That means that Seoul has the highest rate of pedophilie activity in the country, and it almost determines that most child sex crimes are committed in that city, this leads us to believe that Teachers want to go to Seoul to teach because they are ___________."

So, the question remains - why are you interested in knowing answers to your questions?

You haven't said why you are interested in knowing answers to your questions!

I give you credit. You actually came up with a decent reply. I thought that your first reply was just to pad your post count or something.

I am simply trying to find out more about your experiences, so that when it comes time for me to look at 2- 3 locations and decide where I want to teach, I can have a better idea of what I'd be getting into.

1. Daegu

2. It's smaller than Seoul, cheap to live in, and fairly easy to get around/find stuff

3. The foreign community is "small" in the sense that everyone knows everyone else, and it is quite cliquey, also most of the foreigners I meet are irritating (I've met nicer foreigners in Seoul)

4. This is a big city

Seoul / Yonshinnae

In Seoul but on the outskirts, I'm five minutes from Bukhansan, so I can get away every Sunday.

Nothing really, I enjoy the convenience.

I'm in Seoul, 20~40 minutes to just about anywhere of interest, cheap public transport. Guess that goes back up with number 2 again.

VI here in Seogwipo lovin' the scenic locale between Mount Halla and Namhae Sea, on the southern coast of Jeju, where oranges ripen amidst much greenery in the opposite of a dreary winter, and where beaches islandwide are an hour away by car. It's nice to have the touristy infrastructure (stadium, ice rink, clubs) for such a small city. And the Pacific Ocean breezes are a breath of fresh air literally. I don't like how early the restaurants close, 9pm, an hour or two earlier than the mainland places I've lived. As for how close it is to a big city, it's an hour flight away for under a hundred thou return, from here to Seoul, Daegu or Busan. Jeju City has enough nightlife for the few times a month I want it, and heavy shopping happened before I began my contract year here so not much need for that. Lots of buses for cheap local transport though I have a car and recommend it for anyone on the island to take advantage on weekends of all there is to offer, as sites are pretty spread out. A bicycle for booting around town is pleasant too.

up to 2008....

Busan

the nearby ocean, open markets, saunas, seafood

Dislike (not hate) traffic and in some areas pollution

Busan but Seoul is a short 3 hour KTX ride away for a mere 80 000W (when you get the discount)

1. Yeonshinae
2. Close to my job.
3. Close to my job.
4. Seoul. Well, technically it's a "different" city than Seoul but with the exception of going to Itaewon or something unusual everything in the greater metro area seems remarkably the same to me. About 1000 Won to Itaewan or Seoul Center.......
